I love the idea behind this "professional" speaker stand. But when the remote to operate the lights and any instructions were missing, I was somewhat disappointed. Too much to pay for a stand and not be able to control the light show. That was the entire reason I bought it

There are times I just don't understand the shipping choices by some companies. This tripod arrived in the retail box and it looked like it had just come straight from a GWAR road tour. The tripod itself is mostly great. It's definitely a heavy-duty tripod intended for regular use. The example I received looked like I'd already used it for a few years. Two of the adjustment screws & knobs are missing; one has part of the screw stuck inside and the other is gone completely. There's an adjustment screw that's floating around inside the box that doesn't fit anywhere on the tripod. There's a tool hanging from it but I'm not sure what it's for. Maybe the instruction manual.........Oh, wait, there are no instructions. Not even sure why I expected there to be any.A couple of additional nicks here and there on the tripod confirm that the box did its best to protect it from complete destruction. After all that and expecting the worst, I powered her up and to my amazement, it worked!Mostly. It wasn't perfect but it still went through all of the functions from the remote after enough tries and a bit of "percussive mechanics". Once this guy is up and running, there's no denying that it's pretty cool and a nice addition to the stage lighting for concerts, events, dances, or medal ceremonies from the Old Republic. It's an established fact that Wookies love a good light show. The shipping was obviously a complete disaster, which is no fault of the tripod itself nor the fault of the people who initially put it together. On a positive note, I feel like I've been given an opportunity to see what this tripod will look like after being hauled around for a while and pass that along to you. Normally, when I see a review that complains about obvious customer service issues, it drives me nuts because most sellers take care of these kinds of things if you bother to contact them. In this case, I thought it was relevant to pass along the kind of information we don't normally get to provide in merchandise reviews like these. While the tripod obviously has a bit of damage, it's still a solid piece of equipment that continues to be somewhat functional after some obvious road trauma, which is good to know if you intend to take these on the road, which is what will probably happen to most of them. I'd say they're definitely worth the money.

*Seller reached out and sent a new remote, quick-fast-and-in-a-hurry. Was hoping it could be replaced without having to return the whole thing, and it could. Added a star. I do like this stand a lot, it's sturdier than I thought it would be. The remote IS better-built than most remotes, as far as buttons and the body of it, but the edges are just as weak as the cheezy ones, to be breaking in transit, while in its (not-so) protective packaging. I'd recommend beefing up the frame of it, or at least making sure it's surrounded by styrofoam for delivery. But that still leaves you with a remote that can be broken if the bass hits too hard in a song. LoLRemote came with a big chip knocked out of the front. It does whatever it wants, pretty much. If I press off, it just changes color, and does that for most of the buttons, instead of doing what it's supposed to. It will work on whatever setting it's on, which is pretty cool, but I have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it to work. Was a little concerned with how sturdy the bulb material would be. Not sure if it would withstand a heavy wack or a good accidental kick walking by, but it does seem more sturdy than I first thought. I tapped it with something metal, and it doesn't make a glass-like sound, or a cheapie plastic one. So that's a plus. Problem is, that remote is cheezy, even if it wasn't broken. And that tells me if you drop it or something, you can kiss it goodbye. It's maybe a STEP higher in build quality to a lot of remotes like that, but looks like the edges are cheezy. The stand itself at the top seems decent, and it has some kind of spring-load, or air cushion on it, so that's cool. Especially when dealing with a heavy speaker.I like the stand, and will come back with a video of it in action. Going to edit the music out of it first, in case there's a copyright issue. It's a cool concept, and cool effect. Just needs a much better controller, maybe some kind of controls on the stand itself. At least an on/off switch (Longer power cord would help, too).Maybe there is one, and I've missed it. I'll look at it again and see if I'm mistaken. Either way, the remote is the weakest link, and that can be a big deal.

I'm really satisfied with how sturdy this tripod is. It's approximately 5.5 ft. tall at its highest setting without a monitor sitting on top. Depending on how large the monitor is, like a Peavey, it could be as tall as 7ft. There is a metal rod that assists with keeping the telescoping part of the stand stay in place, in addition to a fastener. The fastener is large, easy to turn with a good grip, won't come undone. I've got an attachment and platform to mount a Yamaha HS7, which is a heavy, powered speaker, and I'm confident in its sturdiness. The color change is bright, and fun of course! It has the typical remote for LED colored lights, with options. As mentioned in other reviews, the cord is a little short unless you are within a couple feet of a power source, but that is probably the case if you have DJ or DAW equipment nearby. If you were using this as a speaker at a school dance or other function, you may have to get an extension cord to use the lights. Great stand!
