While these are described as "soft" charcoal sticks, they are not. My drawing teacher actually gave me another brand to use instead (AlphaColors) which was much better.

Work very well but have a slightly to solid texture.

Had to request a refund because when this arrived it was just one small broken stick of charcoal in a little baggie.
