About this item

  • Illustrated instructions will be provided.

This dipstick is designed to be compatible with and replace original Firman part number 330723531 - please verify this number matches the number in your operators manual. If the dipstick number in your owners manual (can be found online) does not match this number this dipstick will not fit your generator. Why should I consider a magnetic dipstick over the stock dipstick? Like the magnet on the drain plug of several models of automobiles, a magnetic dipstick will pull any ferrous metallic fines from normal engine use that are in the oil. Since these small engines do not have an oil filter, this will help extend the life of the engine. This will help protect your investment while maintaining the functionality of OEM. The high temperature super magnet is partially recessed inside the dipstick and secured with an oil tolerant, high strength (4500 PSI), high temperature retaining compound. There are other versions of magnetic dipsticks, why should you consider this version? Although the basic principle is the same as others, there are improvements that make this design better: 1. A hexagonal body vs. round body Why is this version hexagonal instead of round? A round piece is difficult to grip, especially when any oil gets on it. A knurled surface is difficult to clean. A hex allows for easier gripping with fingers (or if needed, a wrench). The flat surfaces are also easy to clean. 2. Type 2 anodization vs. bare aluminum Why is this version anodized? Type 2 Anodization will greatly reduce or eliminate the chance of the threads galling or freezing together (versus bare aluminum), allowing for trouble free and damage free removal. The durable yellow color signifies use with the unit and also protects the aluminum. 3. A flat O-ring vs. round O-ring Why is a flat O-ring used? Just as supplied with the OEM dipstick, a flat O-ring is supplied for better sealing and longer life. The dipstick is CNC machined from 6061 aluminum to high quality standards.

Started breaking the generator in and saw some stuff in the oil so decided to get the magnetic dip stick before continuing break in. Just what I was looking for and easy to install, open and close.

Perfect fit, difficult to find the long length needed which is used by this Firman 3200W dual fuel inverter generator. It's a tad short but it's enough to see the oil level on the dipstick when full.

My generator didn't have any magnetic pickups either in the oil dipstick (this unit) nor in the drain plug. I replaced both. It is an extra insurance measure to reduce the wear on the generator as it is used in any electrical outages. Easy to use but make sure it is suitable to your specific generator. They are ALL DIFFERENT.

Firman Model WH03242. Changed my oil, used this new dip stick and ran 30 minutes. And yup, magnet pickups fine metal particulate.

Fits perfectly for the generator. I bought this AFTER buying the generator and running for a couple of hours on the stock dipstick during a hurricane. After doing a little research, many recommended getting a magnetic oil dipstick to help remove metal shavings when new. I ran it for 15 minutes during a maintenance cycle and it could see tiny metal fragments captured at the end of this dipstick. Will it matter in the long run? I don't know... but it does work in removing metal shavings from the oil since these generators do NOT have a built in oil filter.

This little unit fit just right in my Firman WHO3242 generator. It replaces the factory plastic-only dipstick/plug which has hatch-marks for the oil level. As pictured, this stick has a stepped taper to show the level. At 3/4 full on the hatch marks, it was right at 3/4 full on this replacement. it is a little harder to read, as it is smooth, but you'll just need to make sure you wipe it clean before inserting it in for a measure. When you pull it back out, you'll see the oil level. Also, once the oil is used some more and darkens, it will be easier to read.Brand-new oil coloring tends to blend in with this color, but once you know what you're looking for, it is pretty easy. Note that the OEM dipstick is a wing-nut style, where this is just a large angled bolt pattern. It is large enough to grip easily and twist to both tighten and loosen.Very glad I went with this, and will see how much metal dust/flakes I find leftover floating around in my oil. Glad this will pick it up magnetically, hopefully lengthening my service life for this gen.

I own 3 different Firman generators. This particular dipstick fits the Firman WH03242 generator. Like many generators, the factory dipsticks are plastic. I chose the anodized aluminum version of this product and could not be happier. The pictures show it in use in my WH03242 generator and pulling it out after a few minutes of running it to allow the oil to circulate through the engine. Upon pulling out the dipstick, I saw metal shavings at the end. The dark streaks in the napkin are shavings that I wiped off. These are great because they have hexagonal heads and can be ratcheted or wrenched if necessary. Hand tightening seems to be more than adequate on these small engines.I strongly suggest anyone with a generator upgrade the dipsticks from plastic OEM versions to these from Gen Exhaust. It may be hard to tell in the product images and my own photos, but the anodized version of this product is more of a pea soup green. I think it goes well with the generator.
