I was very disappointed with this tomato planter with built in trellis. It's very thin plastic and the photos make the planter part appear much deeper. The assembly instructions are not clear. The corner pieces of the planter have differences, but there's nothing that shows how they need to be oriented. Also, the top caps that go on the corners of the planter, where the trellis poles are supposed to be inserted, are not cut through. So it will take some kind of tool to cut through that in order to attach the upright poles. I was not prepared for this and haven't been able to complete assembly because of it.There's no customer service contact provided with the product for getting assistance with assembly.I received this product through the Vine program, but I would have been very unhappy if I had purchased it at this price point. I'm not sure if I'll even be able to put it together enough to use it.

This portable gardening container is just what I need to be able to move my cherry tomato plant in the summer when the Texas direct sun and heat get to be too much for it. You will want to note that although it has wheels on it, the wheels do not have brakes. Attached to this review is a photo of it after it is put together.

A 12-inch by 12-inch base with a plate that helps facilitate drainage if one takes the plug out of the hole forms a small cart. You fill it with soil, but it needs enriched soil since the base confines it and long rods fit into the end caps to form a tower for tall or climbing plants. It did hold the soil without bulging and rolled across the concrete well. If one picks it up, it will shift to a slanted quadrilateral shape rather than a square, which weakens the cart portion, so be careful when moving. Morning glory and moon plant vine seeds went into the base. As you build it up, the tower becomes more sturdy, and the base structure with the long rods slipping in adds more stabilization. The tower became placed by the end of a fence where morning glories will open with the sun, and as it closes, the moon, plant vine flowers will open for the night. It is a direct diagonal from my front porch bench view; hoping the fireflies like it, but mostly hope a set of sparrows that made a nest in a square pole with an opening midway up, babies can head to the flower tower when learning to fly. Might need a bit more reinforcement for garden use, but by the fence should do okay.

Very lightweight. I would not use this indoors. It’s not watertight. It comes with plugs for the holes but I didn’t insert them because this planter is living outside. This would be perfect for a balcony or for RV people who winter and garden down south! At the end of the season/move it’s easy to disassemble and packs up in the small box. This is good for a single tomato plant. It’s a nice height. The top caps do need to be knocked out but it’s not that hard. The rods are metal inside. Simply line one up with the top cap and tap it with a soft mallet (not included). It will pop out easily. There is one rod that has a metal end. The instructions don’t mention it. The picture I took of it is blurry unfortunately but it would be perfect to punch out the hole. The stems on the wheel are metal. Love that. I also filled my planter, watered it, and it rolls around my driveway fine. The plastic is on the thin side and I’m not sure how it will handle the heat of summer… so I gave it 4 stars. It does what it needs to. It’s perfect for a single vining plant or tomato.

I knew from the description that it was small. And I knew from the low price that it couldn't be the highest quality. It was a hassle to assemble, but I'm not good at assembling things anyway. The material isn't the highest quality plastic. It isn't as deep as I expected, and it won't hold much soil, and I think it'll need a liner to keep it from leaking. I haven't actually used it yet, cause it's still March. I hope to put a cherry tomato plant in it. I plan to update this review after I've actually used this. It may work better than I think.

I knew this was going to be small at 12 inches by 12 inches, but it's pretty cheaply made. On top of that, I didn't get the key pieces needed to make this all work - no connectors for the stakes - so it's pretty much useless to me. That notwithstanding, I think this needs to have a liner for soil and a plug for a hole near the base meant for water drainage. It won't be self-watering if all the water drains right out. The drainage holes in the bottom plate meant to allow water through will also allow soil through, as will the sides.

First, everything about this, to me, is the perfect tomato planter. It's solid plastic (which makes it light), it has wheels which makes it easy to roll, the cage goes far enough up to get all but the fastest growing indeterminate tomatoes. It can hold one plant, or if you're really creative, two on either side. It's quite large for a single planter.Assembly was easy. I lost the instructions and still figured it out. I haven't moved my tomatoes into it yet, but I am looking forward to using this planter the most! I expect to buy several more over the coming years just like this one!

This was a disappointment. Not complicated, but tedious to assemble. The parts are thin and cheap. Once assembled, it does not seem to be very sturdy. I am hoping it will do better as the tomato plant grows. It is really small. Having grown tomatoes in a real garden before, I know that they get bigger and take up more room than you would expect so I only planted a single tomato plant to ensure there will be enough room. Topsoil leaks through the panels and out the drainage holes in the bottom. I don't have much hope that this will last beyond a single season (if that) but I am giving 3 stars for now and will update once the plant grows to see how it does.
