Helped a friend out with his truck after he had some transmission work done and the truck started having trouble engaging the gears or shifting without messing with the shifter. We found that the taps that secure the end in a bracket near the transmission had been broken and were allowing the cable to move too much. Took some real digging to find a part number for the truck that wasn’t discontinued but rock auto let us to this one. This is for a 1997 Dakota sport 5.2l with the 46RE Transmission - 4speed. OEM cable and went in pretty easy. Fixed all the shifter issues immediately.
