bought this to replace a broken hose clamp, this one broke immediately when installing. went with a hose clamp that screws on instead

Who cares about hose clamps, I do ! You need these constant tension clamps on radiator hoses, especially if you have a plastic topped radiator. Those type of radiators are typical in all new cars. These constant tension clamps compensate for the coefficient of expansion of the plastic radiator nipple during heat and cool cycles and stop any leaks. These GM clamps come pre-set at the open position and require you release the tab when the clamp is in its final position on the hose. Sure beats holding the clamp open with channel lock pliers.I would recommend this clamp.
