I added this retractable tool to my EDC bag so I could easily retain commonly used tools and have them at the ready in a moments notice. This thing is very well made and quite handy. My only complaints are, it is a bit pricy and it took nearly a month to get the thing after I placed my order. Other than that, I would highly recommend this for any application where you need to secure tools in a manner that allows quick access.

Ordered two for fly fishing. One came for fishing vest, and other one goes to boat rails. If I had a boat it would be fine. Simply a mistake

This is an device to attach to a “Rail System” that is not described or illustrated but is inferred as if applicable to attach to a fishing gear bag or waders. The larger unit is Not for attaching to fishing vest or waders. However, the purpose of the larger unit is to attach to a “Rail System” which is a hard metal track that is apparently not sold on Amazon or accurately described where to purchase. Unfortunately the adapter on the back to attach to the rail system is not removable to enable the larger tether to be used in another application. It would be a great product on a boat or Kayak where a metal rail can be attached

The tether appears to be constructed well. It has no problem retracting the Gerber salt water scissors that I have attached to it.

I dislike like this tether due to the fact you cannot remove the the rail track connectors. The only reason why I bought this tether was because I fish SALTWATER. So having the saltwater RX corrosion would be beneficial. Wrong that rail track gets in the way of everything and it add’s weight to your bag. I don’t know why GERBER couldn’t invited a saltwater RX corrosion tether with out the rail mechanics because they have a bunch of tether’ for freshwater without the rail. They should’ve just made the rail an attachment 😑

There is a rail mounting system that cannot be removed. I bought this for my wading belt to hold bait scissors, it is for mounting on a canoe or boat.
