Replaced another Gibraltar seat. I was looking for a round seat. Good quality.

I was looking for a slick top round seat for my Gibraltar tractor seat when I came across this. I had a vinyl round top that wore out before I bought the tractor seat, which was recommended by a few drummer friends. I have a large cymbal array and tend to move around a lot on my seat, and the tractor would always end up not where I needed it when I sat back down. Anyway, bought this top hoping it would be wha I needed, and for the most part it is. Good quality, covering well stitched and seems thick enough, but, the foam becomes almost non-existent when I sit down. I am on the large size so light weights may find it suitable. I also purchase the Eastrock round top and although people complain about how hard that foam is, I much prefer it over the mushiness of the Gibraltar. The only problem with the Eastrock is the fabric covered seat on the black color, which they don't tell you in the copy.

I've tried MANY drum throne seats over my career...too many. This seat combines 2 things I'm most interested in: 1) comfort 2) ease of packing.I put my 12x8 tom into a 12x10 drum bag. I put this seat on top of the tom, and the drum bag zips securely around both. Easy! No need to carry around a separate bag for a needlessly large throne seat.Plus, I don't know what kind of foam Gibraltar uses, but it's WAY more comfortable than many name brand seats, and certainly more comfortable than all entry-level seats.

I got this as a replacement for a throne that was about 20 years old. The legs were fine, but the seat was killing me. This was a perfect fit and is just what I wanted. I might buy the whole thing for my other kit.

I will start by saying- I got it and am okay with it because I got it through amazon warehouse deals for less than 1/2 price and it wasn't even used- so for that price it is great. PROS- the clamping system is nice, and it is a decent quality seat. I haven't laid it against my other stools yet- but it is the 13 or 14 inch diameter so it isn't one of those little cheap seats. CONS- It is not near worth the 55-70 dollars asked new. It isn't a "full height" thickness- about midsized if that mkes sense ( probably 4" i'd say) - it isn't as thick as say, a regular decent mapex, Pork Pie, etc. but it isn't a thin beginner one either. It is also a bit softer than most stools, so we will see what "crush" it has.(I hate when I am suddenly feeling like I am playing lower as a seat sinks over the course of a gig). Overall it is good but just not worth the full new price- you can cobble an extra 30 bucks and buy a decent complete stool -not just the seat. I get a price like this for a high end set only situation.

A bit hard for being so thick. Better than being too soft, but it'd be nice if it were more compact. I haven't had occasion to use it for a 4 set gig yet, but I suspect it'll be more comfortable than a smaller cheap seat under extended use circumstances .
