Back in the '90s I had a smaller black version of this, but it was a one-piece and the brackets weren't as long. It was ideal for what I needed back then and for what I need now. I searched high and low for it but couldn't find it. I guess it's not manufactured anymore, so I bought two sets of these Gibraltar brackets last week. My only two issues are that: 1) the length of the brackets aren't adjustable on both ends. Maybe if each bracket had some sort of slide lock mechanism on the underside of each extension past the middle tube lock section? For drummers like me who have a tight rehearsal space and an Alesis Strike Performance Drum module; these brackets extend too far back and almost scratch the painted wall beside me. Because of this, I now need to look for some type of black hardened shipping styrofoam to fit on the back ends of the brackets, in order to protect my walls from being scratched. 2) Would it be asking too much for the brackets to have a rubberized covering as well? It's great that they rubberized the stoppers on each end, but it would be fantastic if the brackets themselves had rubber on them to protect the underside of the drum module, laptop, etc. I honestly hope for the miracle of someone from Gibraltar or possibly another manufacturer taking these design recommendations and running with them. I'm just thinking from a musician/consumer point of view. Our equipment is expensive, and we try to keep care of it the best we can. It would be nice for these equipment makers to think about that as well.

Kudos to Gibraltar for this, they listened and completely rubberized the stoppers at either end so they no linger scratch your equipment. I use this to mount a MacBook on a Drum Rack and it works well. Very sturdy. I appreciate the quick-release clamps. In the next revision, I'd split the long bars in half, so that you can halve the depth of the mount for smaller devices. Great product, and a fraction of the cost of other mounts.

This is wonderful! solid, holds my laptop very firmly! I use it on my drum rack, so I can play along using my amazon cloud! im a pretty heavy hitter, it doesn't move! hat to but the Gibraltat t top from some where else, but very happy!

These are awesome!!!! Used on a custom built rack for an eclectic mix of goodies. Works for a mixer, looper, laptop, pretty much anything. My 16 track mixer is a bit too long, but I just unscrewed the mount pegs on the back side and gave it a bit of a forward leaning angle and it still works perfect. So even if your gear is slightly over-sized, you can easily tweak to compensate. Brilliant idea, I just love these. I have 4 pair.
