My boy loves the personalized bracelets I made him.I think this kit was supposed to be for Taylor Swift fans to make friendship bracelets, but it's still fun to use and make your own stuff for the kids who aren't into Ms. Swift.

Pony beadsThis set of plastic pony beads is beautiful! The colors are rich & consistent, with a variety of sparkly & iridescent choices as well. There are varying hues of the 48 different colored beads, which will give lots of options for making color specific bracelets. The quality of the beads seems good too. I did a “ spot check” of the beads and they are mostly all smooth, without the usual raised seam line that you see with inexpensive pony beads. ( this is a BIG plus!) The kit comes with 2 kinds of elastic string, a VERY thin, clear elastic & a fabric covered elastic in purple. It’s probably a good idea to double the clear string when making a bracelet, to give it more strength. The purple string may be better, in terms of longevity & sturdiness. Consider using a dab of glue on the knot to prevent it from coming undone. Look online for ways to tie a “ surgeon’s knot” or a square knot… those will be stronger. The alphabet beads are cute, the letters are well printed & legible. But the enclosed instructions state that they are provided “randomly “ & specifically say that not all letters may be available. I would suggest laying out your bracelet / necklace design before starting to make sure you’ll have all of the letters you’ll need. Overall, I’m happy with this bead kit & look forward to making bracelets with the girls. The only negative about the set is the included clear elastic string, which just isn’t strong enough. The purple is ok, but the purple color will be evident in the finished piece, which might not be desirable. Consider purchasing a heavier weight clear elastic string ( I like Beadalon & Stretch Magic brands) if you want your jewelry creations to last awhile. Or get a white or black fabric covered elastic. Just remember that the string color will show in the finished product.
