The small form-factor pluggable (SFP) Gigabit interface converter (GBIC) is a hot-swappable input/output device that plugs into a Gigabit Ethernet port or slot, linking the port with the network. The Cisco SFP provides full-duplex Gigabit Ethernet connectivity to high-end workstations and between wiring closets over existing copper network infrastructure.

This should not be sold as a Cisco transceiver - it is supposed to be Cisco compatible, but my experience is that it did not work after following the Cisco standard documentation for the 5010 switch (set speed to 1000 on the port).

I have a Netgear GS110TPv2 switch in my network with 7 of the 8 Gig Ethernet ports in use. I wanted to setup a LAG on the switch to a NAS server so I needed to free up a port. This Netgear switch has two open SFP ports. I did some research and selected this SFP because it was Cisco Compliant and the price was reasonable. It fit and worked perfectly in the Netgear switch. I recommend this SFP and will buy another if I need it.

Works great in our Cisco core switch. Was worried with the word compatible but does just as good as the more expensive brands i have used. Great for IT budgets.

Worked well, but is NOT a Cisco OEM SFP as shown in the listing. However, for under $20 I didn't really expect it to be.

I purchased one of these to go into a TP-Link switch. It did not work. The port would show a connection and it would pass traffic for a second and then the port would reset over and over. I ended up returning it and purchasing an actual Cisco GLC-T SFP module and it worked perfectly.

I'm not sure who is at fault here, but BUYER BEWARE! A co-worker bought from this same listing, for the same price, and got a GENUINE Cisco copper Ethernet GBIc. I bought from this listing and received a mock/compatible copper Ethernet GBIc made by Lumina Optics. I believe that Amazon is at fault because Lumina Optics smartly used the same model number for their part, so Amazon just lumps the sellers into one listing. Minus two stars for the deception. The word "Cisco" has no business being in the title or header of this listing if it is really for a LUMINA OPTICS device (Cisco compatible). My packing slip said, (1) Cisco GLC-T 1000BASE-T SFP transceiver module, which was rubbish. I received a (1) Lumina Optics GLC-T 1000BASE-T SFP, which has nothing to do with Cisco. With that said, I went ahead and used what I received because I couldn't beat the price. I could have beat my co-worker and made him give me the genuine one he received, but I refrained. I used this GBIc in a 2006 era 24-port Cisco 2960x switch for two days to setup a VOIP call center. The device happily worked with the switch in one of the SFP ports and didn't give us any configuration errors. I would never put this device into heavy production, but it works fine for temporary jobs. For these reasons, it gets to keep the remaining stars.

I tried another vendor's product in our 5596UP Nexus switch and they would not work. Sent those back and ordered 16 of these from Luma Optics and they work perfectly. I also had the same experience with the Fiber Optic transceivers. Luma is the only one I have found that seems to get it right for the Nexus switch.
