I recently purchased this mechanical fuel pump for my 1972 Datsun 240z. My plan was to install this while I track down the necessary parts to rebuild my original Nikki pump. This part failed immediately. After I replaced the original pump I was getting little then no gas to my carbs. I opened this pump to find the upper membrane and both interior valves were swollen, blistered and had failed. I run premium gas with a standard fuel stabilizer.

I bought the pump because it looked like the OEM 1974 Datsun pump. We had nothing but trouble with it because it worked intermittently making it difficult to diagnose the problem with stalling, hard starts and eventually a total breakdown and tow bill.

Looks great, much like original. Fit was good. First one I received failed (loss of fuel pressure) after 2 days (left me stranded, tow truck, etc). I'm pretty sure it was one of the internal check valves that failed. Replacement pump (from Amazon) lasted about a week before the oil seal failed and was spraying oil out of the weep holes (front and back of the pump body). Third one (replaced by Amazon again) has been working okay for about a month so far, fingers crossed...

I bought this as a replacement for the Ampco (OEM) pump on my 260Z. Completely cured my fuel pressure problem. It is so close in design to the original pump (except that it is cast with what my dad used to refer to as "pot metal" instead of aluminum) that I might have considered using its internals to rebuild the OEM (Ampco) pump. I was dissuaded from doing this since another reviewer successfully rebuilt a 240Z Kyosan Denki pump with the internals and I was unsure whether those internals matched the Ampco. I know from the forums that the internals between Nikki and Ampco do not match. Nevertheless, the pump looks good, and drives well, although I only have 40 miles it.

I have a 1972 Datsun 240Z restored, original and the fuel pump went out. Searched the internet and parts houses for rebuild kit for a Kyosan Denki fuel pump, (not the Nikki pump). Could not find one and found this pump that looks identical. I saw the other reviews that said they used this one so I ordered it up and got it. However I swapped the insides out and now I have a new Kyosan Denki pump. They are identical inside, this was great and the best part is it works fine. Thank you to GMB for making this pump, I did it today, and now my Z runs again.

My 240Z had been having some fuel starvation issues which I had narrowed down to a failing OEM fuel pump as the most likely culprit. Picked this one up for cheap on Amazon and installed it in about 15 minutes, which instantly solved my fuel issues. I've only had it on there for a few weeks but so far it's been working flawlessly.Comes with two gaskets as well. The best part of this fuel pump is that it looks almost identical to the OEM Nikki fuel pump, the only difference is that it doesn't say "Nikki" on the top. The picture used in the item description is accurate.
