About this item

  • STAY IN PLACE - Pre-Pitch is a unique, stay in place screeding tool designed for use underneath shower pan liners. The first product to be installed, Pre-Pitch creates the proper subfloor pitch needed to direct water flow towards the weep holes.
  • BUILT IN SLOPE - Built in slope creates the perfect sub floor slope required without the skill usually necessary to complete a task like this.
  • HIGH IMPACT PLASTIC - This product is molded of high impact plastic with reinforcing design which is lightweight and non-rotting. Used on all subfloors, wood, and concrete.
  • MEETS PROPER CODE REQUIREMENTS - This Pre-Pitch creates the proper code required for sub-floor pitch and ensures proper drain line drainage.

Pre-Pitch Standard Kit PPK/STD-201 Kit = Six (6) float sticks 1/8" to 7/8" x 36", twelve (12) stainless screws, eighteen (18) double-sided tape, and one (1) installation pamphlet. This kit is the first kit used in building a traditional vinyl liner shower base and low profile Handi-Kirb wheel chair showers.

I recently used this kit to establish the proper slope in a shower base I'm installing prior to liner installation. It worked really well for the intended purpose, however, EVERY shower base project would require 8 sticks of this product in order to comply with the installation instructions. The instructions included with the product indicate spacing the sticks so there is less than a prescribed distance between the ends along the walls. If you look at how they lay out the pieces in the pictures, four of the sticks go from the drain to the corners and then the remaining two sticks go from the drain to either the side walls or the back wall and the curb. This layout leaves you with half of the slope precisely controlled and the other half of the space with a big void in your reference to the slope you are establishing. Two more pieces would solve this. Even in a 36" x 36" surround, there is too much distance in two locations doing the layout of the sticks as illustrated in this ad and in the instructions. You can order extra pieces, but for the money I paid for 6 pieces of plastic, I should have gotten enough material to complete the job without an extra order and extra expense. I compensated for the lack of materials by moving two of the sticks during installation and packing the void left where the stick was after I had established the slope. That worked, but I will not be ordering the kit for the final mortar application.

Was constructing a bigger master shower in the master bathroom. I was told by many people that I needed to jackhammer part of my foundation to move the drain so that it would be in the center of the shower. Being that I didn't want to jackhammer the foundation of my house I used this product instead. Even though my drain is not in the center of the shower the water still drains toward the drain just as intended. Definitely recommend.

Why was this not around 20 years ago? Don’t believe videos that say “just eyeball the slope”. If you are going to do your own shower pan install, buy everything these guys tell you to buy and do it like they say. Beats the heck out of a pan that doesn’t drain. This made our custom sized shower a reality. The project took me 5 x longer than hiring someone, but that was my own pace. Without these pre-pitch and extensions, would have taken 50 X. Great video instruction on the utoob for support as well.

Excellent for what it does. My handyman who did the concrete for our new tile shower found this to be very helpful along with the Quick-Pitch kit. However, he wasn't trilled about the Curb-perfect; thinks it would have been easier to do that part all by hand.

Good product, but as others have mentioned, it should come with 8 sticks. 6 isn't enough and they know that. I cut 2 more out of hardwood rather than buying another package to have enough. If I were doing it over again I'd cut all my own.The same for the shower curb kit. It's too short so you have to buy a 2nd kit for nearly any curb you build. And mines only 40 in wide.

This worked great for my husband and me, when we had to put in a new shower pan. We probably should have gotten the additional set of sticks, as our shower is five feet long by 3 feet wide or so, but it all worked out in the end. I would recommend getting additional sticks if your shower is oddly shaped and/or larger than say 4 feet long. This is due to needing to place the float sticks sort of close together in order to be able to float the concrete towards the drain. We had to improvise and use found items from around the house that were long enough to float the cement, like a metal pipe and a 2 by 4. Highly recommend for anyone, experienced with concrete or not. Great product!

For those of us that do custom work, this kit is a time and money saver. Getting the initial base layer as close to perfect as possible sets up the rest of your project for success. Follow-on deck mud layers are much easier when this is used for the initial base. Yes, I could cut my own shims - but a enjoy the "perfect" slope this kit offers upfront. For the serious project, don't skimp and do it right with using this kit for your initial mortar bed base.

I put together a PERFECT shower pan in only three days from start to finish with the Pre-pitch and Quick-pitch system. I began my shower project by purchasing a Redi-Tile pan, which was a complete nightmare and disaster (see further comments about this below if you are considering). The Pre-pitch easily installed over my hardi-backer board base with screws. I used Quickrete Sand/Topping mix, which is a ready use portland cement and sand mixture to fill the form. It was so simple to use! The most difficult step was securing the 40 mil mat, but even that was not that hard. Once you have the mat down and secure, use the Quick-Pitch system, which is essentially the same as the Pre-Pitch for the final step. I would like to mention that the Kohler drain I bought was not perfectly compatible with the Quick pitch system because of the bulbous design of of the top. I was not able to use the center ring (I just used silicone sealant to glue the sticks to the mat). Great product, reasonable price, highly recommended!I thought that the Redi-Tile product would be a much simpler alternative to pouring my own pan, and boy was I wrong. Long story short, I spent $600 on a piece of junk. I decided to scrap the Redi-Tile pan and start over after countless attempts at seating the pan. No matter what I tried, it would always flex. DO NOT BUY TILE REDI PRODUCTS!
