These live up to their promise. I haven't lost a string yet. I put these on a 1999 Strat and the tone changed slightly but not in a way I couldn't enjoy. To make my Strat more awesome than it already was I also put on Fender locking tuners and put a little beeswax (from lip balm) on my bridge. Now my Strat holds its tune like nobody's business and I still have the whammy bar active. Highly recommended unless you are absolutely against even the slightest change in tone.
