Tried to save a buck buying this cheap reamer instead of a fancy one from a proper lampworking supplier. Got what I paid for, I guess. The tip broke off the first time I used it, which I figured was user error. But when I put the shaft in a drill to re-grind the point with some sand paper, I discovered that the shaft was not mounted on center with the graphite, so the whole thing does not spin on-axis. Any decent lampworker knows how important having things on-axis is. That's probably why it broke in the first place, because any time it's put into the glass and spun, there is sideways force applied to the graphite. The graphite also scratches extremely easily, even when only touching nearly molten glass. Dont see how that could be my fault. Seems like a poor quality of graphite compared to my marver and marble molds. All in all, I suggest shelling out a few more dollars for something from a lampworking supplier, not from Amazon.
