Look elsewhere. I didn't read enough reviews and didn't realize the whole top is a very cheap plastic.

We filled it with gravy and took it to a friend's house. The gravy was still hot a couple of hours later.

I liked this container but it arrived split and sharp as the top is plastic. It cut my hand. There was a sharp spot on the handle too. Amazon sent it in a paper envelope. It cracked. They told me to dispose of it, but when they say that, after some time I get charged because ther say it wasn't returned. Its hassle. Buy it where you can look it over first.

There's nothing worse than cold gravy, and I thought this product would not only help keep gravy at serving temperature but might help to prevent drips and so on.Because it's a double-lined thermal product, I treated it the same as I would any other thermal product and filled it with hot water for a bit before using it. Doing so helps to maintain the temperature of the contents. By doing so, I was able to keep the gravy at serving temperature throughout the meal.While the base of the unit is stainless steel, the shiny portion of the unit is plastic. That's not an issue for me but based upon the description I expected it to be steel. When you pour from the unit, you can expect a certain amount of sauce to stay on the spout. The design of the lid is such that it fits on the stainless portion, so sauce builds up on the spout and on the lid. Again, not a real problem, but not very neat either.I'm still giving this product 4 stars because when properly prepped, the container DOES keep the contents hot throughout the meal. That was my primary goal, and it definitely achieves that. It also does make serving easier, as long as you prepare for some drips from the spout. I still would prefer that the entire product was made of Stainless-Steel and not plastic.
