Came with smudge marks on windshield and the components used to assemble the windshield did not line up with each other making assembly and mounting impossible I am in the process of returning it do not buy

I permanently mounted this windshield. I just received the package and assembled the windshield. I put it on my bike and of course it’s raining. I don’t know how good the factory windshield is but for the money I’m happy. It’s very sturdy. The reviews say the direction are terrible and they’re correct.You shouldn’t need directions for 9 bolts and 6 brackets. If you can follow the diagram you can probably teach yourself how to read Chinese.

A little cumbersome for a “do it yourselfer” but it was a great fit. It came with black brackets but used original chrome. Would buy again! A few minor scratches but hey, it happens but it was better than the old one. Sturdy and should last a while.

Some said it was difficult to assemble but usually it’s because they don’t read the directions. Well, I read h the ge directions first and then try to figure out how to put it together easier.As one mentioned, the pieces are shipped flat so a slight amount of bending is necessary. The long horizontal pieces for the windshield had to both be bent together to get them to fit properly. I started in the middle on the bed bolting it together a little at a time.Finally once together. I tried mounting on standard stock Harley detachable mounts already on my bike. It fit sort of but I couldn’t get it all locked in so I bent the pieces slightly a little at a time and finally I could fit the metal frame in all of the grommets.Then, how is the spring supposed to hold the shield on when they’re on the wrong side? I reversed them and now it works great! It took me 3-4 hours and should have only taken about an hour. Oh well overall a 4 out of 5.

I wanted a windshield on my 2018 heritage softail 114 I just bought. Didn’t find aftermarket that said it would fit the heritage after 2017 but I’m kinda handy so I bought this one.If you are kinda handy and can fabricate things, this will work with the hardware provided.1st of all the mounting bushings were already on my bike but they are spacecraft out farther than the provided brackets will fit.If you remove the plate and metal shroud on the 2018 heritage (3 layers) there are holes with the right spacing top to bottom on the inside piece, this can be used for a pattern to drill the other pieces (5/16” holes) then drill the inside part out to 3/8” and inset a 1/4” threaded rivet. You will need the thread rivet tool like I bought on Amazon. Make Shute you touch up the plate and shroud with paint before assembly.The retaining spring assembly had to be flipped around to fit my bike.The flat metal bars need to be pre bent some to match the curve of windshield before assembly. Assembling on a mattress is safer not to scratch the windshield.I put a 1/4” X 1/2” bolt back in the original bottom hole with a rubber washer, you can paint it black or use chrome bolts.Not too hard and it saved me from spending Harley money on a replacement windshield.If you went back with original equipment later you can move the bottom bolt to the hole used for this mounting bracket bottom hole. Probably not for the novice but I’m a little handy and trying to save a few dollars.Fits great, very secure and looks fantastic on my bike.

I HAVE 2008 FAT BOY, AND I WANTED TO SEE IF I CAN IMPROVE RIDING COMFORT BY ADDING WINDSHIELD. TO THE FACT THAT ORIGINAL H-D WINSHIELD IS OVER $ 500.00 INCLUDING TAXES AND MOUNTING HARDWARE, I DID'T WANT TO SPEND THAT MONEY, JUST TO SEE IF IT FITS MY NEEDS. SO I RDERED THIS ONE FROM AMAZON. ASSEMBLY IS VERY HARD TO DO WITHOUT HELP, BUT I MANAGED TO PUT IT TOGETHER AFTER 45 MINUTES. DO NOT REMOVE PROTECTIVE FILM UNTIL YOU PUT IT ON THE BIKE!!! AFTER I DID TEST RIDE I NOTICED THAT WINDSHIELD IS TO HIGH, BECAUSE YOU SUPPOSE NOT TO WATCH THROUGH THE SCREEN. AS YOU CAN SEE ON THE PHOTO, I MEASURED 3,5" AAND USED SIDE SCREWS AS REFERENCE POINT TO MAKE CUT WITH MILWAUKEE CORDLESS MICRO TOOL BY USING DREMEL CUT OFF WHEEL. AFTER CAREFUL CUTTING AND USING THE 1000 GRIT WET SANDING PAPER TO MAKE GOOD LOOKING FINISH, I GET DESIRED HEIGHT OF THE WINDSHIELD. I AM 5'11" AND THE WINDSHIELD TOP IS ABOUT MY TIP OF THE NOSE IMAGINARY LINE. WINDSHIELD WILL IMPROVE WIND PRESSURE AND TURBULENCE UP TO 60-65 MPH, WHICH IS PERFECT FOR CRUISING. I WILL NOT RECOMEND IT FOR HIGHER SPEEDS, BECAUSE IT STARTS TO VIBRATE OVER 75MPH. OVERALL IT IS GREAT INVESTMENT FOR AMOUNT OF MONEY SPENT. BUGS STAY AWAY FROM RIDING SHIRT, JACKET ETC. POSSIBLE GRAVEL HITS WILL BE ALSO DEFLECTED EFFICIENTLY. I WILL NOT RECOMENDED IT FOR THE RIDER WITHOUT DIY SKILLS AND TOOLS.MANUFACTURER SHOULD MAKE CHOICES OF DIFFERENT HEIGHTS AND FINISHES TO OBTAIN BETTER RATING SCORES!
