I'm a professional installer and have been installing cable for 20 years. Why in the world I never bought these before now I have no idea. We have a project installing access control banana cable (about as think as your thumb) in overhead trays. The jacketing on this stuff sucks, and we're pulling 100+ feet to a ninety degree turn, then another 80 feet, then another 90 degree turn. It takes 3 guys to pull this just down the straight sections without tearing it up.Today, I crawled up there on to the tray, mounted this thing on there, fiddled with it to get it to go how I wanted, and began pulling. I did 180 foot pulls of annoying cable through 2 90 degree turns with ONE person without killing myself or damaging the cable. The other cable teams on the project were over there taking pictures of it by the time the day was done so they could order their own.Notes you can't tell from the picture:The bottom it basically a C-Clamp. It's meant to grab on to solid tray. We had tray with an I-beam top to it, so you can see where I padded the clamp with a small piece of plywood and that solved the problem. Now that I've used it, I'm going to carry small pieces of 3/8 plywood all the time to prevent damage to the tray. This WILL crush a steel tray if you try to.. the jaws are strong and the clamp is only limited by how much power you want to put towards locking it down. There IS a feed-side, but it's marked. I didn't try to feed it backwards, so I'm not sure if you'd have problems. It's got instructions so I followed them and it worked flawlessly. We later pulled 5 CAT6 runs down the same path with ZERO problems, again with only 1 guy. The other two just watched me to see how well it worked. I seriously ordered two more as soon as I got home tonight.I've got tons of instances where we're in tight attics or overhead areas with wooden studs. It's always a pain to run because of all the things you get snagged on. Not anymore... hang 1 or 2 of these along your route as high up as you can, pull through them, and then pull the cable out and manage it on the stud directly below when you're pulling the next run through it. No need to go back and empty it first... you're coming right back to it with the next run, so empty it when you pass it next time. You can adjust the angle of the rollers, their height away from the clamp, and the direction they face. I unscrewed the base and turned it around for one area and it's got bolt detents and threads on both sides, so they KNEW someone would want to do this.Great tool. Get it and forget it!Update: I'm dropping one star after extended use, but it's still a great product! Why the 1-star drop? Well, these tools require a little bit of maintenance you wouldn't expect. Some loctite would probably solve it, but I didn't know that in time. Each of the rollers is attached with one screw and small star washer. After about 4 days of use, one of the rollers halfway fell out. Upon inspection, the screw backed all the way out and fell out, so the roller is only working with one side attached. Sure, I can go to Lowe's and find a screw small enough, but you just need to know to keep an eye on them and be sure they stay tight. Half the screws are attached behind the bolt that holds the unit together, which means you can't get to the screw to tighten it without disassembling the locking pins, and unless you have a pair of large wrenches handy (which I didn't while doing cable pulls because I never need them) you're not able to tighten those screws up regardless how much you fiddle with a screw driver. I had to pack mine back up and bring them back to the shop to perform some maintenance this weekend. Also, the detent ball and spring that's part of the retaining clip flew out of one of mine. Now, truthfully I really don't think you need that pin for it to do it's job. It's not likely to fall out during normal operations, but regardless, I'm going to see if GreenLee will either send me a replacement part or just replace one of the four units we purchased.

This thing is well made and can be a big time saver. I pulled 24 CAT6 cables at a 110 degree angle and it performed well. Like other reviews, it is bigger than i thought when i arrived. But that's a good thing. This is a bit pricey, but when you receive it, you will understand there is a lot going into making this beefy tool.

Great for preventing snags when pulling overhead from multiple boxes of catX. Do yourself a favor and order one - especially if you're pulling solo.

Very Helpful On The Job!!! My husband had one, and we were out on the job & he mentioned how it would be so much easier to have another one for the job! So I bought him one for Christmas!!! It's really sturdy & not a bad price!! He has already used it a few times & he said it really does make pulling cable a lot easier!! I plan on ordering another one for him!!
