I've purchased several styles and sizes of these through Amazon. They hold up well to hot liquids and microwaving, some come with handy clear plastic covers, and they are all biodegradable. But my chief reason for ordering these is their capacities... I hate cheap paper bowls so small that food leaks over or falls out... these have the capacity, the strength and yet they know when to degrade and not clog landfills.

My husband is a quadriplegic and these bowls help him eat with less help. The 35 ounces are too short. This size is just right. We have bought them for a while. While we have received incentives to review them, I review them without incentive. They are worth it. Sometimes being a caregiver means taking a little break for yourself and these help me do it. The only negative thing is for our purposes, they are a little flimsy when using soup. In that case I use two, and then end up using the second bowl for something else. So thicker would be better on the whole, but we can live with it as is.

There's a little slit in the lids, if you don't close it it will leak if the bowl were to get turned upside down (like during travel). Lids fit but don't have the greatest seal, so I'd avoid carrying things with broth/liquids. Bowls themselves seem sturdy for small portions, I'd double it depending on the contents. Seems to microwave well.

These bowls are plenty big enough for a large serving of soup, chili, whatever you like. Bowls are sturdy and the lids fit well.

These are exactly what I needed. I had no problem heating up soup in the bowl. The top has a little piece that can be flipped up to vent if needed. The top fit perfectly. I was able carry hot soup up two flight of stairs with no problems. I rated the a 4 because I felt the base of the bowl could be a little sturdier.
