steps:

Recording was a bit clunky and challenging, however the file is too easily overwritten but pushing the wrong button. I ended up buying a 16gb that was connectable to the computer and made a huge difference in sound quality. Don't go cheap and get this one, spend $10 more and get real quality and ease of use

Update. I never use the batteries for power as I don't want to have to remember to check them and they will be way out of the way. However, the power I used was about 8.5v before load. That fried the chip as they obviously do not have a voltage/current limiter. That would cost them an extra buck, so cheapskate award to them. Just be careful if you do not use three batteries. Keep that voltage at 4.5v.
