It did the job. I had to replace the cartridge after 22 years. I figured out to replace this piece as well. which is not bad

If you are replacing a Grohe temperature regulator, especially an older model this cap does not come with the unit. It must be purchased separately. It is used to allow the handle to operate the temperature from cool to warm to hot corresponding to the degrees on the barrel. The only way you will know is to remove the decorative plate. If you see a green cap, then make sure to also purchase that with the temperature regulator.
