I just did the right side and had to change 2 tires that went bad from our NJ roads. Total of 4 in the last month with less than 15,000 miles on them. The axle boot was broken (3rd one in 36,000 miles. Rock Auto would not resend an axle just return for refund (Limited Lifetime warranty). Now I ordered the axle on Monday right after we get here to NJ it came late in the afternoon on Tuesday so I was going to change it on Wednesday but the weather looked really bad so I decided to wait til Thursday.Well on the way to get my wife from work the axle I thought broke at the boot side.Had to get towed home so that was after midnight. Now had to use our 125cc scooter for transportation. So on Thursday I loosened up the axle bolt then jacked up the car took off the tire and took the axle bolt out well then the axle fell out on the ground. The 6 bolts holding the axle to the transmission flange were gone. I found 2 inside the frame badly beat up and of course no longer usable. So now I needed 6 bolts. These are special bolts and a call to dealers for (2005 Volkswagen Passat TDI wagon) yielded only 2 bolts no good. So finally I found a place that had them in Minneapolis St. Paul MN for $3,51 each and ordered 13 in case I need for each side. Then I noticed a broken sensor hanging by the wire. I took the wire off and couldn't figure out what it was. I glued the piece back together for the time being. I later found out it is the transmission or axle speed sensor. I ordered it too from Amazon ($14.99). Now I went to Aurozone and bought bolts both M8 1.125 and M8 1.5 20mm long one on net i found were 23mm long for less than a dollar but I was concerned they may scrape the transmission. The M8 1.5 20mm were correct but they had a hex head and didn't fit properly but did allow me to move the car into a neighbors driveway. Til I could get parts needed. So the bolts were toast so the head is round with 12 point internal 3 square tool needed (AutoZone set $30). The flange had a few dents and burrs so I used my Dremel to repair that. Next the threads in the flange were damaged so I needed to try to re-thread or cleanup the threads. Harbor Freight reviews were real bad so I would up going to Home Depot and getting a Milwaukee M8 1.5 tap and drill bit. Came as a set never intended to drill but was able to slowly repair the threads. Home Depot also had the right size bolt M8 1.5 20mm 12.9 hardness but with 8mm Round Allen head (close to what I needed). Home Tin here. Was able to put it back together still today (Friday) waiting for those bolts. Yesterday replaced the sensor in 3 mins after removing the wheel and 1 screw axle cover. As Willy would say "were on the road again".

I my cv axle was cracked, because as I turned to right it would make well, a cracking sound. So I checked autozone and other auto shops and they were all charging me 180+. And it’s understand because I own a German vehicle. I found this item here, did research such as reviews, photos, videos, tracking back to the seller and it was legit. Bought it for a very affordable price and well it was worth it. I recommend it

This part was defective. I had to buy a second, pictured on the left immediately after installation of this defective piece of garbage because the ball bearings in the boot were bad from the start. I didn’t get 2 feet before it failed and twisted then tore up the boot. Buy a decent one from a local auto parts store instead if you’d like your car to be fixed properly.

Seems to be working just fine, and a lot cheaper than going to parts house or dealer.
