Tinier than expected, but that does not matter much. I like the little lock system to keep it propped open while air-drying. I have a Krutz 200 violin that has always been caked with rosin, and I usually removed it just by wiping my finger over the strings. But I realized that doing that could potentially damage the strings, so I looked for a rosin remover and found this! Works perfectly and efficiently. I don’t try to move it up and down the fingerboard, as it pushes the strings up and I don’t want them to pop. Overall, this is an amazing product and I recommend it!

I have one of these in every guitar case and have been using them for years. Good to see a great product that remains a great product.

Compre este producto porque había visto reseñas en internet y quise probarlo. Funciona como anunciado pero una micro fibra de limpieza puede hacer lo mismo. Nada especial.

A really brilliant idea and works very well. Well made and top quality. Can't get off heavy rosin in the playing area, but I don't really expect it to. Every violinist should have one!

I have a very nice old Martin guitar that I hadn't played for a number of years. When I decided to start playing again I found the strings to have a bit of corrosion on them. I actually do like a slightly dulled sound on my guitar and I didn't want the brightness of new strings, so I decided to try this little device as a means of clearing the worst of the corrosion. Frankly, I wasn't expecting much, but it really did a nice job, giving me the sound I wanted to retain in my guitar. I'd strongly recommend it to other serious guitarists.

It seems many issues with this tool may be related to user error, or other problems with the guitar or setup. The action on my electric is ludicrously low, and it works just fine with this cleaner. You have to use just a wee bit of force to get it up near the nut, but this doesn't make your strings last for an eternity, it's just good practice to keep them feeling, looking, and sounding their best as long as possible. If guitar strings can take extreme Floyd-Rose abuse, they can take a little tugging after long sessions to clean dirt and grime.Despite that the manufacturer claims no solutions are necessary, you can certainly apply them to the cloth. I won't make recommendations as to which to use, as it seems to be a touchy subject... but if you do wipe your strings with any cleaning solution, you can apply it to this cloth, and if you have two, use another to remove the excess.

Pros:It's a fast way to do a basic cleaning of the strings and the fretboard. Wish they'd thought to do this with the guitar version. It cleans up fairly quickly with hand soap (best to use the liquid type). No harmful chemical residue is left on the strings to transfer to your hands (and then maybe to your eyes, mouth, wherever).Cons:The latch has a lot of trouble closing, especially if you're dealing with five or more strings. The cleaner won't clean a normal width six-string bass all at once. The latch gets in the way while you're cleaning four strings at a time.If you have the string action set fairly low, the cleaner won't push under the strings when you're at the lowest frets. You still have to use a cloth to clean the nut and saddles/bridge areas. After washing the cleaner, you must let it sit out overnight to air dry.Final thoughts: It works well enough at the cleaning part and never really wears out, but the bad points tend to outweigh the good. There are much better products out there for cleaning strings, although this one is the least risky, chemical-wise.

This little invention is great. I liked it so much, I bought a bunch of them over Christmas and gave them to other guitarists as presents.I have a dozen guitars, this little fellow makes cleaning and servicing them quicker and easier. I used to use a paper towel wet with a spritz of glass cleaner to wipe the strings down after playing (then dress with some sort of light oil to prevent rust). I haven't used any cleanser at all with the String Cleaner - I just clamp it on and pull it up and down the guitar several times, and I'm sure both sides of the string are clean. I still dress the strings with light oil after cleaning to ensure no rust.Several reviews mention that it gets tight up near the first fret - yes, it does - but nothing problematic. It takes minimal effort to gently force the device to clean the strings all the way to the nut. All of my guitars are set with exceptionally low action and I can get the String Cleaner to clean the entire first-position without a problem. It's washable, too. I put it in a lingerie bag and throw it in the wash machine with clothes once every few weeks, then leave it in the sun on a window sill to dry. It comes out good as new every time.If you're as detailed as I am about the care and cleaning of your stringed instruments, this is a nice little time-saver to add to your toolbox.

I've been using this thing mostly to clean the strings on my Fender Jaguar HH Special, which for some reason rust a bit more quickly than those on my other guitars. It does make a noticeable difference in extending string life, which is what it purports to do. It does that well. Unfortunately, it is hard to slide the String Cleaner all the way up to the nut, without at least loosening the strings a bit. I recommend downtuning every once in a while to do that, and also lifting the strings off the bridge (assuming you have a Tune-o-Matic/Adjusto-Matic style bridge) so you can clean their entire length. It works well, but it isn't magic. I'm due for restringing right about now.

Originally, I use a product called fast fret to clean the strings but then found out upon changing the strings over the underside of the strings were absolutely filthy. This is where this product comes in handy, it does clean the whole 360º diameter of the strings therefore not as much grime builds up on the fretboard and the string life lasts a little bit longer with its sound.I can say it DOES work on seven string guitars but not on eight string baritones, you might have to clamp it on a few strings at a time with that one. However, if you combo this up with fast fret cleaner and guitar tailored lemon oil for the fretboard itself, you can't go wrong at all
