The berries are extra-large and sweet and ripen before strawberries. Another honeyberry variety is needed to mazimize fruit production, such as Kawai. Hardy in USDA zones 3 to 8.

When Maxine’s Opus arrived it was small but appeared alive. A few green wilted leaf sprouts at the bottom of the branches. I potted it hoping I could save it but the leaves dried out quickly and died. I also received a Kawaii plant at the same time and that one is going like gangbusters. I’m hoping I just got a bad plant as it’s too late to return and I need a replacement.

Arrived with small sprouts of leaves. It was packed in loose soil in a plastic bag. It’s in the ground and appears it will survive.
