I ordered this material to protect our car doors from hitting the sides of the garage and damaging either the car door or the garage. Due to the shape of the one car’s door, I first installed a 2x4 along the length of the garage at the height where the door strike would occur. The purpose of installing the 2x4 was to make sure the door hit the matting and no where else. For this case, I ended up cutting the matting down to the width of the 2x4 before installing it. The matting cut relatively easily when using a fabric cutter applied to the matting (not the backing) side. The other side of the garage will use the full 8-inch width material due to that car having a different door edge geometry. Starting at one end, I then peeled backing off while applying firm pressure to the matting in order to get a good seal to the 2x4 and to remove any air pockets. The matting adhered well to the wood without any places where the glue was not strong enough to stick.After installing the matting, I opened the door, allowing a relatively light bump against the matting. The door was cushioned well and there was not any concern that the door was damaged by this. I would have been concerned if it was an unprotected 2x4 that it hit at this level of bump. As can be seen in the picture, the door compressed the material and left a crease, but did not tear the matting and the crease is relatively small.The material has a nice looking wood look that works well when placed over a 2x4 and looks nice in the garage.Overall, the product worked well, was easy to install and protected the door against damage when lightly over opening. I expect that creases are likely if you regularly bump the same location with your door getting in and out of your car, but this material appears likely to hold up and prevent damage to the door. That being said, care is still needed since harder hits will exceed the ability of this material to cushion against damage.The only reason for the 4, rather than 5 star, is because there was a crease created from the door bump that can be seen when looking at the matting after the door has been closed. I would have preferred to have the material return immediately to full depth after the door bump. It should be noted that the product was tested in a garage with a temperature of between 30-40 F, so the material might spring back better during summer conditions.

If you're looking for a garage wall protector that offers extra protection, this one is a great choice! It’s thick and can absorb moderate impacts. I have a tight space when exiting my car inside the garage and I needed this to keep my car doors and garage wall safe from accidental dings. I also like that it's made from eco-friendly, high-density material meaning it's both durable and safe for the environment. Plus, the waterproof, scratch-resistant wood grain texture looks nice. Another great feature is its flexibility, you can cut the foam strip into different shapes to fit any type of wall. This was definitely a smart addition to my garage!

Came with one of the strips defected. Had these divits in it.Should be okay but it doesn’t look as good.
