HAJXZH 2 PCS Tatting Shuttles Metal Shuttle Silver Knitting Weaving Tools for Sewing and Craft ProjectsI was hoping I'd have better success with tatting using metal shuttles but I still can't get the hang of it. Luckily, I have friends who love tatting.

In my opinion these are the only type of shuttles to use for tatting. The typical plastic ones are a pain to wind up, but these have a bobbin that can be taken out and easily wound. At first, you will find that the bobbin is very snug and hard to spin. You need to loosen up the two sides of the shuttle (since its made of sheet metal, the sides can easily be spread out). Once loosened up, it frees the bobbin to spin freely, making it a lot easier to tat.The only con to these shuttles (and that goes for the name brand ones as well) is the included bobbin too small for larger projects. So, I usually get a metal sewing machine bobbin which is a lot wider to hold more yarn and pop it into those shuttles. The trick is to spread the metal sides of the shuttle out by a significant amount so it can accommodate a larger spool. Once you make that mod, you will never go back to wooden or plastic shuttles.
