I will forever be using these when customers are in need of directional art lights, the biggest problem I run Into with gimbals is the edge of the circle trim usually inhibits the light from directing on art pieces places higher up on the wall, the elbow attachment allows the bulb to direct light without an odd crescent shadow line along the top. They look amazing and the customers are always in love with the service

I like the look of this spotlight. The problem is, as others have pointed out, a standard LED bulb with an overall depth of 1.95" will not fit in the housing with the pin socket attached. I took a Dremel cutting tool and cut off the top of the housing to accommodate the pin socket and it solved the problem. The cutout does not show at all from below. It should have been designed this way from the start. Perhaps halogen bulbs aren't as tall, I don't know as I didn't try them as I wanted an LED MR16 bulb. If anyone knows of a shallower MR LED bulb please post a link to help out everyone else, I wan't able to find one.

These recessed light trims for 4'' halogen ceiling hi-hats are simple to install. Pull out existing flat trim and "unplug back of bulb from can fixture. Install bulb your existing bulb or a new bulb into the new retractable trim--this part is a little tricky, but the bulb will go in. Bring trim and bulb up to the can and plug back of bulb into cord inside of can. Now push trim into can. Make sure your hands are not dirty or your ceiling will have finger prints around the light. Swivel the trim to the direction of area/art or wall that you want to highlight and give retractable part a push in--it will smoothly pop out and you can adjust accordingly. Here's the important part: these are NOT LED fixtures. These are halogen fixtures. A beautiful, warm, sparkly illumination--perfect for art or an upscale highlighting of anything. These trims take a m16 halogen bulb--the kind with 2 prongs in the back. You may be able to use it with the same size bulb without prongs. Take out old trim and see what type bulb your fixture currently has. PURCHASE correct bulb. They do not come with the bulbs. I don't know why anyone would think they should.I am an Interior Designer and used these retractable, directional recessed trims for an estate in the Hamptons, to highlight a fireplace and art above. I installed them myself and I'm a 62 year old woman. Price was great.

Probably the 'cleanest' line art light available. Has a full 30+ degree angle. Lve it. Looked at lots of other models. Bought 30 of them.

So how did I miss the fact that this is just a lamp holder and bezel? There is no light, even though it mentions that it's 120v, led etc. Now I have to find a light kit that will fit? Expensive for a swivel holder. Looking for other options and a return.

The description doesn't really say it, but this only works with an MR16 style bulb. If you have a regular screw in recessed light housing look for a 120v medium base to MR16 adaptor. The instructions also say to bend/break the reflector that the mr16 bulb plugs into, I didn't and it still works fine. I love the 60 degree tilt and ability to turn the light however you need it. The light is very close to a dartboard, i can easily use this to aim the light right at the center of my dartboard.

We need to replace a recessed low-voltage light with one that we could point to illuminate some stairs. This does that, superbly. Fit and finish are consistent with other Halo products and this one snapped into a 20+ year-old fixture with no issue. One note: you will need to snap a piece of the aluminum base for the light off so that you can get the full range of motion. Instructions are included; only took a few seconds of bending a thin tab back and forth until it came loose. All is good.
