Hans Grohe invented the shower bar more than 60 years ago: It is the original from the Black Forest. To this day, we are consistently continuing to develop it. Your advantages: exclusive designs with glossy chrome, brushed nickel, polished nickel, rubbed bronze, or polished brass – as with Unica E. To make sure everything fits perfectly, there are Unica shower bars in different lengths, with shower hose and brackets, to suit all conventional hand showers. Whoever uses the bathtub for bathing and showering would also want to be as flexible as possible when positioning the shower head. In the shower, hip height is sufficient as a lower limit; there you should perhaps opt for the 24" wallbar or you could go for a 36" wallbar depending on your needs. It brings incredible amounts of freedom of movement, making it perfect for families with children and grandparents. To help ensure that the shower hose is a perfect length it is included along with many bars.

I selected this and the associated Croma E 75 3-jet handshower, wall outlet w check valve, and S Thermostatic Trim w volume control for my new shower. All were installed by a professional plumber to my design. We are completely happy with the looks and function of these shower fittings except for one boo-boo which I made in the design. I told the plumber where to install the iBox Universal Plus rough-in and I had it placed too high. I did not allow for the fact that the Trim Control is about 6" in diameter. Thus, with the rough-in too high, there was insufficient room above the trim to mount the Wallbar and it had to be mounted slightly off center with the bottom to one side of the Trim Control.The controls work great, both volume and temp. The wallbar slide works great, both in sliding up or down and rotating left to right. The up-down rotation of the showerhead holder also is great, allowing the head to spray straight out to straight down. (This movement is not available in many cheaper brands). All-in-all, the functionality of the wallbar is pretty near perfect.The brushed nickle finish looks great, IMHO, much nicer than the bright chrome, and is worth the extra cost.As far as cost is concerned, do your research; there is a very wide range for the price of these items. I ended up buying from the on-line name used by International Bath and Tile of San Diego. Their service was good, although one item kept getting back-ordered.Hansgrohe customer service is superb. I called them several times re question about the shower equipment and they were always very helpful and fast. There fixtures are a cut above the mainline stuff sold in the big home improvement stores and represent excellent value.
