There's a lot of disinformation out there when it comes to these Canon lens hoods. When it comes to the Canon EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM lens, the recommended hood is the EW-83L. However, when you compare the EW-83L and EW-83M, the only difference is that the L is made in Japan and is no longer available, while the M is made in Taiwan and it's still for sale. For the 24-70 f/4 lens, either will work just fine as their size and shape are identical. As far as this Haoge replacement is concerned, it's OK and works for the lens in question, but it's considerably cheaper and lighter (read, not sturdy/as durable) than the original Canon hood. No surprise there. What's somewhat concerning is that the release button isn't as smooth and sturdy as the original, and with time it might break and cause the hood to get stuck on the lens. If you want/need a replacement hood for the Canon EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM lens, I'd recommend getting the EW-83M while it's still available and for sale. Vello also makes decent hoods that are closer to Canon's quality than this Haoge version.

This is a perfect fit for my canon 24-70mm (77mm) surprisingly good build quality and fits facing forwards or reversed when not needed. I would definitely recommend this instead of the more expensive canon brand hood.

Always nervous about buying these off brand hoods. They're 1/4 the price of Canon for a reason. However, this one is nice looking and the fit is good. I also liked that they only put the model number on it and not the brand. Happy with the purchase.

I lost the original hood for my lens when I was in Mexico. I was very upset that I left it on the bus. However, after ordering this after reading a few reviews on it and how you should get over your ego about having the brand name listed on your hood and just get something that's functional. This filled the bill perfectly. I have zero complaints it fits great it does its job. Why would you pay full price for brand unless you really need to show a brand name?

The lens hood rotates, locks, and fits as expected. It's not as shatter proof feeling as the original one but is an excellent replacement for the price.
