Overall I think these would be a cute gift for your grandpa.They appear usable but fragile. One of the spoons has a crack through it, and the fork tines are chipped. I also found a couple parts that had splintered a bit. Maybe oiling them as instructed on the item page will help with that.Personally I would use them more for kitchen decoration than for food.

I got this set for my in-laws for Christmas. I also got the grandpa set. Makes for a great decorative set. They are really cute but there’s alot of imperfections in the wood that I was disappointed with.
