Not just for professional and craftspersons - incredibly handy for home projects as well. Not just a caliper but a depth and step measurer as well. Easy to read LCD display. Can be operated with one hand in most applications. Was as pictured and described on the website. Excellent precision and quality. Came with a nice hard shell case. Written instructions were reasonably easy to understand even for the layperson. A good value and happy to recommend it.

I’ve had a lot of comparable 6” calipers from Harbor Friehht and similar over the years. This is the first one that is USB rechargeable. It will be good to see over the next year how the batteries hold up compared to the button cells. The idea that I can simply recharge it when it inevitably dies, instead of trying to find replacement batteries, is exciting.I measured several calibrated gauge blocks, and the measurement was accurate within 0.001” each time.It measures in mm (0.001 mm resolution), decimal inches (0.0005”), and (peculiarly) fractional inches (1/128”)It comes with a sturdy plastic case that I expect will hold up well over the years.A nice instrument. I recommend.

Picked this up to replace a malfunctioning button-cell unit; glad this came up when it did! The display numbers are large, and I can see it in sunlight to around a 45 degree viewing angle. Accuracy appears spot-on down to about a sixteenth of an inch, but you might want something else if you'll be dealing a lot with sub-millimeter thicknesses. The milling on the groove is a bit crude and there are some points of very minor unexpected resistance when moving the caliper in and out (more noticeable if you keep movement quite tight), but at least on the unit I received, it was not near bad enough to deduct a star over and is probably not going to be something I notice in daily use. Will update if experience problems with device; otherwise, it's working fine!

Overall, I think most people will be very happy with this caliper, but as you can tell from my review title, just because I rate it "five stars" does not mean that it's perfect. For me personally, the main positive features of this device are that it is USB-rechargeable, and that it's wired "properly" (My other caliper, a no-name import, drains its batteries even when off).My main criticism of this item is that it has been impossible to get it to slide smoothly and with the fine control that I'm accustomed to from my cheaper other caliper. The slider on the caliper that I received is tight, and the thumb-wheel action is rough. Also, the thumb-wheel on mine is loosely mounted and jiggles / wobbles to the touch. That's not important to the functionality of the caliper, but it speaks to the seller's quality-assurance standards. The seller sent me the product is a very nice hard-plastic case, which I appreciate and all, but is also an opportunity to rant. Are you reading this, seller? I have a few dozen product cases that I've received from sellers for their different tools, but pretty much no-one labels their cases to indicate what's inside! How are buyers supposed to remember which case contains which item? Most people are going to be very satisfied with this product. Push it against something. Measure. Convert from metric units to fractional USA/UK units. Plug in to recharge, as necessary. Happy.

For me this is a game changer. I use my calipers all week every week, and i end up going thry lots of button cells, so having a USB rechargeable caliper is just what I need. The caliper has large easy to read screen, there is a red LED that turns green when charged, and the wheel feels great, with no slop and a nice precision slide movement. The fraction feature is handy too, especially when checking drill bit sizes. Also, the decimal point has 3 places to the right, so it is good for more accurate measurements than my last caliper. I feel it is a true 5 star value!

Why didn't I look for a rechargeable caliper before? Every time I would grab my old digital calipers the battery was dead. If the battery is dead on this, just plug it in and give it a couple of minutes and your back in business.

I already had two digital calipers and one mechanical, but was enticed by the fact that this one is rechargeable. It will be months before I know how well the battery holds up, but I'm already liking the fact I don't have to feel the need to conserve power and shut it down between readings during extended use. It does indeed power down on its own after about 5 minutes and even automatically powers up by simply sliding them open. The display is certainly large and easy to read from multiple angles, but I find it annoying there's no battery level indicator. For the decimal inches mode, I'm not sure I like the tenths digit being large - I think I would prefer all decimals to be small like it is with metric. But then they don't have room for that fourth decimal place - though I do like my other calipers where that lower-precision digit is smaller than all the others since I mostly ignore it.It feels sufficiently robust and the buttons have a very solid feel with good tactile feedback (though it's odd having the power button in the middle). The lock screw holds firm and the female threads are metal instead of plastic. The bump for pushing and pulling could stand to be steeper or at least add one more ridge at the tip but the roller is at least smooth and grabs well. So far, it seems every bit as accurate and consistent as my other calipers. The orange-on-black motif is not very friendly on aging eyes, especially with such a tiny font on the tenths of an inch. For such a purpose-built case, I'm surprised they used flimsy live hinges and I would prefer to be able to open it one-handed. There's also no place to retain the instruction sheet without it being in the way every time you open up (I just taped mine to the lid, though).
