Like many plastic recorders it will not sound as nice as a wooden one but it doesn't matter since the first 6 months to a year of playing you will sound awful anyway. I wanted a comfort recorded that would be easy on my hands but the action on the keys require a lot more force than metal keys on a wooden recorder (I've tried both). OK for a start.

Pinky key tension, required too much effort. Synthetic pads leak.

I wanted to expand my recorder arsenal (I have a sopranino, soprano, and alto), so I got this, based on favorable reviews and nice price. When I got it, there was one immediate problem: the wider spacing of the holes compared to an alto, a problem compounded for me due to the fact that my right index finger is somewhat distorted fron an accident involving a saw. It was difficult for me to properly cover all the holes to reach the lowest notes. For a while I contemplated devising some sort of key for the index finger hole, but with practice I am getting the hang of things now. I understand that the hole spacing can be a problem with tenor recorders in general. The sound quality is quite satisfactory for me. This will probably never venture out of my basement within range of any other ears than my own, so I don’t need something to compete with a professional instrument. But I think the quality would be fine for a group of friends gathering together for an evening of consort playing, should such an opportunity ever arise. In short, I think this is a good instrument for someone looking to dip their toes into a tenor.

I have other recorders, both tenor and soprano, plastic and expensive wood. This is the best I’ve got! In tune throughout range.
