My son has wanted this toy for Christmas for the past 3 years. I was reluctant to spend the money after reading all the reviews about how the legs keep falling off. After my son sat on Santa's lap and once again requested this toy, I decided to risk it. My son is 7 and he has been playing with it non-stop for a week. So far, no parts have fallen off. It has brought only joy to his playtime. I would buy it over again!

We have had this thing for about a year now and my 6 year old likes it as long as the legs stay on, which is not very long. I know there are "cheap and easy" solutions for fixing the legs, but should I really need to take the time to fix a toy I paid $[...]+ to buy? I suggest avoiding this one and get the Turbo Tank.

My son (8) received this for Christmas purchased through Amazon.com. Like many others have posted the legs detach so very easily that the toy now sits in his room not being played with.Today I called Hasbro and they are aware of the legs detaching and will be sending out replacement legs next week. I will revise my review upon receipt of these legs and a test run by my son.The reason I am writing this review is that while speaking with CS at Hasbro I was told that the problem had been addressed and new models are being made where the legs do not fall off. Apparently the model I purchased from Amazon.com is one of the older models and probably why the price was significantly lower.Other than the leg problem, my son was very excited to get the toy. I'm hoping these new legs will make him excited all over again. Please check back in a couple of weeks for my updated review with the new improved legs.

Santa brought this for my six-year-old son, and the resulting tears from its constant breaking have left him doubting the goodness of the jolly old elf. "Why would he bring me a toy that constantly breaks?" Like other reviewers, I wish I could give it less than one star. [...] is a lot of money to spend to have to fix something with sawed-off pieces of pencil. If it had not been the ONLY thing he wanted for Christmas, I would chuck it in the garbage right now.

The quick detach legs can easily be fixed with just 1 standard pencil. Take a pencil and cut 12 pieces of it the same length as the eraser. I used a hack saw to cut the pencil. Put one of the cut pieces into each shoulder and elbo joint on the legs. You put the pencil piece right in the middle of the 4-prong claw connector. Snap the leg parts back together. They will be fairly hard to insert. They're not fully seated until you hear the "snap" of the 4-prong connector seating into the snap groove. That's it. You just saved your $100 toy and your child's dreams with a 5 cent pencil and 10 minutes of work.My kids love this AT-TE. They load it up with troopers and battle the CIS with their AT-AP and my vintage 1980's AT-AT and AT-ST (which, if you remember, also didn't work so well out of the box). Now that your AT-TE is "fixed", they can rough house with it all they want. They can move the legs without them coming off. If you insert the supplied wheels into the vehicle's feet, the AT-TE will roll nicely on hard floors and rugs.If your main gun turret keeps popping off, try cutting that pencil eraser in half and shove one peice under the two-prongs that hold it on. By the way, the ON/OFF switch is on the vehicle body right under the turret's seat (just in case you're still looking for it). Enjoy!

I read all the negative reviews and was skeptical after hearing how the legs fall off, but then I watched the youtube video demonstrating how easy it is to fix the issue. It literally took me longer to put the decals on the AT-TE than to fix the legs. I bought 2 feet of 5/16" Outer Diameter (3/16" inside diameter)clear vinyl tubing from Lowe's for 35 cents (in plumbing section). I cut short pieces and wedged them into the prongs of each leg so they properly latch onto the edges of the joint sockets. It is extremely stable and I even shook the AT-TE many times to test it; and the legs WILL NOT fall off. Bottom line, this is all my kid wanted for Christmas and for an extra 35 cents and 5 minutes time he'll never even know there was a problem. The Hasbro replacement parts sound fine, but for under the Christmas tree next week the vinyl tubing fix is the way to go. I would have scored solid 5's had it not been for taking this extra step for repair.
