I used this over a fire pit, during a burn ban when only charcoal was permitted. Still, it produced great-tasting burgers. The stand is strong. You just have to keep the legs spread when lifting it when you're done, or use one hand to keep the top together.I love how the legs break down into three pieces each, so the whole tripod doesn't take up too much storage space. If I had to choose what to change, it would be:1 - Find a way to keep the top of the tubes together when moving the tripod in place over the fire, or removing it when done.2 - Add a lock nut to the threaded eye bolt, so there is no way the single included nut can work it's way off of that shaft.Neither of those is a deal-breaker. I'm going to enjoy this for years to come.

If you're looking for a basic tripod and grill to take camping occasionally this could be a good fit. If you're looking for something more substantial for regular backyard use I wouldn't pick this one.The legs are made of 3 sections which screw together, and the middle section can be removed to lower the height adjustment. The top connection is a plate with no firm connection; this allows for a bit of adjustment for uneven ground or obstructions but does make the tripod susceptible to shifting if bumped. The grill folds for storage but unfolds and stays that way when properly installed, however I'm not entirely sure that after use it will be possible to fully clean the folding area, particularly when outdoors.

I ordered this to take camping, but it didnt come in time, so a kitchen test is the best I can office right now!It was super simple to put together! It was packaged with care, each leg in its own plastic, the chains in baggies, the grate in bubble wrap (you get the idea!). The legs are strong and sturdy (no need to forage sticks! to make a tripod! yay!) The grate folds open and closed for easy storage. But my favorite part? It can hold the weight of my 22 pound cast iron Dutch oven! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I cant wait to take this camping this summer!

fun addition to a camping kit or outdoor fire pit. not too heavy. easy to put together. getting the grill to balance is a bit of a trick at first until you get the hang of it. but very nice and works well.

This camp cooking tripod is very rugged, it is made out of quality material and machined very well. Easy to put together and take apart. I actually thought that the grill portion would not be that stable because it's foldable, however I was mistaken. The grill is extremely well made and sturdy all of the parts, chains, hooks and guides are all very well made of quality material as well. This is most definitely a very compact, high quality campfire tripod.

This camping tripod is an awesome and surprisingly versatile setup for outdoor cooking, especially at this price point. While it didn’t come with instructions, assembly was pretty intuitive, three poles screw together, creating three rods that are angled into a sturdy top plate for stability, with a hook and chain system for hanging cookware or using the included grill grate. The chains are a great touch, a thicker one for heavy-duty items like dutch ovens, and a thinner 3-point chain to keep the grill grate balanced and stable above your fire. The thicker chain is also useful for helping to fine-tune your cooking height. The modular pole design is clever in the fact that you can leave out segments for shorter and faster setups if needed. It’s a simple, rugged build that handles campfire heat well and sets up or tears down in just a few minutes. The only real downside is the lack of a storage bag, but that’s easy to work around, you still get a lot of bang for your buck. All in all, it’s a solid piece of gear that’s well worth having on hand for camping, beach BBQs, or even backyard fire pits. Would recommend!

I think this is going to see some significant use this summer. I've been wanting a camping tripod for a while and had been eyeing some cheapo options, but thought that the legs and their connections had looked like points of rapid wear and failure. Not these. These are solid, yet light to carry around. The poles are 1 inch diameter stainless and screw together. The connections feel very solid and there's no flex to them at all. I'm really pleased about that.I could wish for directions. None were included, but it's not like you need a degree in rocket science to figure it out. Each pole comes in three sections. Each of the three pieces are different, for the bottom, middle and top. It quickly becomes apparent that the section that ends with a plain wide end goes on the bottom and the section with the narrow plain end goes on top. The top ends fit into a triangular piece of metal. A hook threads through a hole in the piece of metal and your grate hangs from there, using as much or as little of the chain as you like, to get the heat how you want it.The grate folds in half, making it easier to pack away. Three chains hook to the grate. There are no fixed positions to hook the chains onto the grate, so you just have to eyeball placing them more or less evenly around the grate. As the grate folds in half, you need to hang it with the orientation the right way, but that's also pretty obvious.I guess I could wish for a place to hook the extra chain or a mechanism that would facilitate changing the height while it's over the heat, but that's what potholders are for. I guess I could also wish that the legs nested inside one another for packing, but then you probably wouldn't be able to have connections and legs this solid. These are both minor issues and well below my threshold for knocking off stars. This gets a full five stars in my book, hands down. Recommended.
