The instructions I received with the pump don't match the responses on the unit control panel making the programming instructions totally useless. My The specific examples are far to vast to to elaborate here but for all you folks that have to deal with devices you bought who's instructions turn out to be horribly conflicting, incomplete and generally wrong should not buy this until Hayward learns to respect their customers after purchase. The documentation on this pump is horriblly inacurate. PS Haward... update your instructuions on your website when you learn your documentation sucks.Matt

Used this to replace a 10 year old certikin pump on our 50m3 pool, can run on 1200-1400 to heat via a genie boiler. It is quieter than the very quiet boiler boiler!. Priming is over in 30 secs rather than 3mins now. Integrated weekly timer, power(watts) meter, auto priming and quick push buttons for pause and 4 speeds. We don't actually prime often ...as it is so cheap to run, we run it 24 hours a day. It can run on 85W average we find.Filter lid can be removed by hand and filter basket is very big and therefore lasts longer and is much easier to clean.

Product works great! My pool is relatively small at around 10,000 gallons and has 1.5" PVC plumbing which limits the overall flow capabilities. That being said, my first month's electric bill with this pump was $60 less than the previous, and only had the pump running for 3 out of 4 weeks. My initial estimates based on the on-board power readout (mine usually shows around 150watts at 1750 RPM) were that I would save about $85 per month, and this $60 in 3 weeks is right in line with those estimates. I did installation and plumbing myself, but note that this limits the warranty from 3 years as advertised to something like 30 days. One drawback was that the PVC adapter to the pump appears to have a crack in it out of the box. THIS IS NOT A CRACK, but rather a surface blemish from the molding process. I was able to confirm that both inlet and outlet fittings on my pump, as well as those on the display model in my local Pinch A Penny, all had the blemishes, so I connected things up and they are running leak-free.The savings noted have similar runtimes to my previous pump - 8 am until 6 pm daily, with an overnight clean on Sundays to ensure shock is well-mixed. Programming is set to run at 2500 RPM for 1 hour in the morning, and then at 1750 RPM for the remainder of the day. The same 2500 RPM is used in the overnight clean on Sundays. By calculation, this is saving 80-90% on my pump's energy usage - very nice to see in the Florida summertime.

Very Quiet at low speeds. The display shows me using 250 watts at low speed instead of the 1500 watts my old one speed 1.5 HP was using. One thing to note is that dirt will settle to the bottom differently when on low speeds, as in everywhere. I would have given it 5 stars but it sounds like a jet plane on full speed.

After installing all the plumbing and hooking up all the electrical connections to the pump, I turned it on and there was a huge leak between the motor and the seal plate. I was very frustrated at first having to take a brand new pump completely apart. After replacing the shaft seal and putting it back together very carefully it fixed the leak. I'm still not sure if the seal was bad or if the impeller wasn't fully seated to seal that shaft seal. Either way i'm just glad that its working correctly now. Only time will tell how long this pump lasts. i ordered a cover for the pump to hopefully extend the life. I guess the only bright side is I now know how to replace the shaft seal since it seems like that should probably be changed yearly to help protect the motor. (cheap insurance) The only other negative which really isn't the pumps fault is that when this is hooked to my aqualogic controller it doesn't display the watt's used at the different power levels. I've manually checked with an amp meter and it seems like this pump should save quite a bit in electricity.

I looked at quite a few variable speed pumps including several Haywood models and out of all of them...this is one that I liked the best. Do yourself a favor and watch videos on not only installation, but pump operation, plumbing and programming. This pump was not only easy to wire up but there are several options for operation from a control center. I chose the stand alone mode even though I have an older analog control system. I simply pulled all the indexing pins on the clock dial up so there would always be power to the line. With my old pump I was also forced to change out a couple of valves because my old pump, that someone had installed had 1.5" inlet and outlet but all my plumbing was 2". That was ok, the valves were old anyway and new valves work fantastic and now I had 2" plumbing throughout the entire system. Reading the specs on the pump, if I had left that 1.5" pipe in place coming out of the intake valve and into the pump I would have cut my flow rate in half, from 80 gpm to 42 gpm. This pump like I said was the best to install, program and run....and it is so easy to tweak the settings to get it just the way you want. It works so well that even at the low speed setting, which I placed at 1300 rpm, because I have a spillover water feature.....my pool cleaner will still work and clean even at that low speed. I set my cleaning speed at 2800 rpm and that runs for two hours in the early morning....the pool cleaner just motors around quickly and gets everything picked up. I set the priming time for 30 seconds and that runs at 3000 rpm, because that is what I set the max speed of the pump to ever run at, it doesn't need to run faster than that, the plumbing is so tight that under normal conditions, priming is not even needed, but I have it set to prime whenever the pump is shut off for whatever reason. Here is the really cool part, my old pump used 2200 watts an hour for 10 hours a day, this new Hayward through priming, full cleaning run and low speed uses 2400 watts for the entire 10 hour run!!! It uses 700 watts an hour for the two hour clean cycle, then gears down to 1300 rpm which uses 100 watts an hour.....total run time is 10 hours and my pool reading are all normal and the water is clear and fine.So I've gone from using 22000 watts, that's 22 KW to 2400 or 2.4 KW. That is a money saver And only put me back $772 for the pump and I spent another $134 on valves and fittings. On low speed you can't hear it run unless you are standing right over it.....even when it is priming it is quieter than the old pump. Best decision I ever made for appliance change.
