Installed this pump on January 12th, and noticed on February 22nd that water was running out of the motor indicating a bad shaft seal. Could not return it for replacement because the 30 day window was passed. Contacted the Seller and requested an exchange and they refused and said I needed to contact Hayward for warranty service. Hayward customer service put all the responsibility to find an authorized repair service on me. Bottom line is that I finally gave up and ordered the part that cost me $15.58 even though the warranty says it covers parts only for 1 year, and I'm having to pay $120 to the authorized repair service to have it installed. The total run time on this pump was less than 130 hours. Paid $464 for it and now another $135 to get it fixed. Shame on both Hayward and the seller for their pitiful response. Highly recommend you find another brand of pump if you need one, and a different seller as well.

I recently upgraded my pool setup and decided to go with the Hayward W3SP1592 PowerFlo Matrix Above-Ground Pool Pump, and I’m so glad I did! This pump is a beast and handles everything with ease. Here’s why I love it:Industrial-Size Strainer Basket: The strainer basket is a standout feature for me. It’s huge, which means it collects all the large debris without requiring constant emptying. It really reduces the amount of time I have to spend on maintenance, which is a huge plus.Heavy-Duty Motor: The motor is high-performance and seems built to last. It even has an integrated thermal overload protector, which gives me peace of mind knowing the pump will shut off automatically if it gets too hot, preventing any long-term damage.High-Performance Impeller: The impeller works great at preventing clogging. It handles leaves and other debris without issues, and I haven’t had to deal with any blockages since I installed it.Flexible Discharge Options: One of the coolest features is the ability to switch between horizontal and vertical discharge orientations with just the press of a button. This makes installation and setup incredibly flexible, especially when space is tight.Quick Disconnect Feature: The quick disconnect for the intake and discharge pipe connections is a time-saver. This pump is an exact duplicate of my failed pool pump. It took all of approximately 10 min to install. Pump works perfectly. I have a 28ft above ground pool. The previous pump was at least 10 years old, so I'm not concerned regarding longevity.

This is a replacement from my last pump purchased in July of 2015....I am hoping that this pump last as long. This one seems much more quieter than my last one, filters the water very fast. Was easy to install. Would definitely recommend .

I needed a replacement for my Hayward pump but I needed one with a side output to the filter. This new pump comes with the output on top but can be adjusted to the side. It's not hard if you know how. You need to loosen the basket and push a tab on the side to turn the output. The tab is not easy to push in by hand, a small screwdrive works better. There is a YouTube video that illustrates this perfectly. The enclosed manual kind of leaves you hanging. I think without the video, I would have been on the phone with Hayward. The pump itself is quiet but when attached to the filter and set on rocks, there is some vibration noise.

This is a good pump and works nicely for my 24' above ground pool (approx. 15K gal). I use it in connection with the Hayward EC40AC Perflex Extended-Cycle D.E. Pool Filter. My only grip is the lid on the strainer basket is incredibly difficult to remove. I can sometimes do it alone, but usually need two people. I've used the gasket lubricant recommended by Hayward as well as some others - that just seemed to make it worse. This is the second of this pump that I've had. On the first one I attached some extensions to the lid handles to give myself some more leverage. This allowed me to open it by myself. If you empty your pool skimmer basket regularly, you won't need to take the lid off very often, but sometimes leaves/debris get through. On the former pump I had to replace the on/off switch after about three years. An easy/inexpensive repair. The old pump finally gave out when the bottom rusted out. This was because the connection from the pump outlet to the filter inlet leaked very slightly and kept the underside of the pump wet. My bad for not having a tight connection. I also purchased a rigid plastic pump cover to keep this black color pump out of the sun and run a little cooler. I would buy again, but Hayward -- make the lid easier to remove!
