Regardless of what the product description says, this ARC audio extractor does NOT allow the TV to control volume when outputting to the 3.5mm headphone jack. I was able to get clear audio from this to my amplifier but it does not change according to TV volume. I did have CEC enabled on the TV and I tried this back-to-back with a different ARC audio extractor that does enable the TV volume feature. So I'm fairly confident it is not user error.

I picked this little adapter up because my ancient-but-still-kicking sound system had no idea what HDMI ARC was—and my new TV wasn’t about to speak anything but ARC. Enter this tiny translator. Plugged it into the ARC port, flipped the switch, and just like that, the sound was flowing through my speakers like it was 2010 all over again. Setup was simple once I realized my TV had ARC buried in the settings like a hidden boss fight.Sound quality? Totally solid. I’m using it with the optical out, and there’s no weird buzzing, lag, or audio gymnastics—just clean sound. I haven’t tried the 3.5mm or coax yet, but I like knowing the options are there in case I get ambitious with my setup. The only heads-up: your TV remote won’t control volume if you’re using optical, so you’ll need to break out your amp or speaker remote like it’s the old days. But hey, small price to pay to avoid upgrading your whole system. Five stars for keeping my nostalgia rig alive.

My current TV setup is using HDMI/ARC from the TV to a sound bar. As soon as the TV is turned on the soundbar is also and the sound immediately is controlled through the sound bar. In fact the TV sound is muted at all times. What I lost in this setup is a connection to my wireless headset for listening when my wife goes to bed without waking her. I was hoping this could be attached to the HDMI ARC and the sound bar would then be connected through the aux out or optical out from this device to the sound bar. Unfortunately that now requires the sound bar remote be used. Does it work yes and for the price and the few times I actually use it I can live with this. What I was hoping for was a pass through HDMI ARC to the sound bar as usual with audio out to the headset that could be activated with a simple switch to stop the sound bar and use the headset. What it is advertised to do it seams to do well. Sound quality is great. I can and will use this for my purposes, I just have to make sure I reset it so my wife doesn't have to figure out why she can't get sound when I am not around.

This little HDMI ARC audio adapter works well with my 2023 Samsung QN90 43in tv. As well as a few other older tvs i have tested it on.I cannot tell any significant difference between the tvs native Optical out and this adapter. I had it connected a Fosi Audio K5 Pro DAC, to use headphones and a set of 2.1 speakers for tv sound output. It does not have Volume Control, aside from Mute ability, though my tv thinks it can control the volume, but adjusting it on the tv does nothing. (it is stated in the product listing that there is no volume control ability) So, what ever device u connect it to, has to have its own Volume Control ability. On my Samsung TV, it shows as " IT6622SB(HDMI-eARC)".Plug it into your Tv's ARC/eARC HDMI port.Yes, u will end up losing an HDMI input as this adapter does not have a HDMI passthrough port.I only use PCM output and my audio devices are only 2.0 or 2.1, so I cannot test multi-channel support, though, I assume this kind of devices just pass on the audio signal and the DAC I use is what downmixes it to 2.0(or maybe it is the tv/streaming box that downmixes?) Either way, i have had no issues with audio, same as if using the built in TV's optical out port. Coaxial out also works well. I did not use the "headphone" 3.5mm jack on this adapter. It is a nice metal box, small compact.Switch to turn it Off/On.Requires a USB C power, comes with USB A to C cable, but no power brick.

Took a little while to figure out how to get it working, but it's worth it!I had an old Yamaha home theater setup, that unfortunately doesn't accept HDMIArc, which my new tv needs. Found this interface, and it works perfectly to transmit the audio from HDMIArc (TV) to Aux (Yamaha speakers)! Thank you!

I like the size of this, and it does exactly what it's supposed to.Thankfully I have an extensive technical background because there is very little in the way of documentation out of the box. However, once you figure out how to use it, it becomes extremely easy and does everything I need it to do.I'm docking one star away from five because of the documentation. If the manufacturer and designers see this and provide better documentation in the future, even maybe a QR to a website containing better documentation information, I will change my review to five stars.TL;DR: would recommend to a friend, it's better used by somebody with more technical knowledge.

I gave this 5 stars because it looks like a solid unit and has all the features I thought I was going to need. However, after I placed the order, the configuration that required this converter box changed. In the new configuration, I no longer need the audio extraction. So this converter/extraction box will be kept in my stock of electronic gizmos for the time when the need arises again.I cannot review the long-term functionality currently. In testing, it does extract the audio, but long-term usage would do a much better job of determining the consistency of 'no dropouts, synchronization, etc.I can only provide a basic 'it works' value here.
