Bought this for a friend and her kids who are ages 3-10 when their Grandparents passed away and it brought much joy and peace to them.

Perfect book for my grandson. His mom died 5 months ago. This book helped answer questions he had about heaven.

As an aunt, I am always on the lookout for books to read with my little nieces and nephews. When I first saw Heaven: What’s It Like? How Do We Get There?, I was struck by how sweet the cover is. I am a firm believer that the illustrations in children’s books are just as important as the words, so I was very happy to see the beautiful artwork by Kirsteen Harris-Jones.The inside of the book is simply formatted. The left side of the layout is headed with the words “What is Heaven Like?” and under that is a “title” for the page (Heaven is Safe, Heaven is Real, etc.). Under this is a Bible verse and a short poem related to the topic, and on the right hand side is an illustration.Overall, I thought that this was a very cute book. There were several things in particular that I liked about it. In addition to the illustrations, which I have already mentioned, the words are easily accessible to kids. It is the kind of thing that I could see an older child reading to a younger sibling. At the same time, having each layout be essentially a different story is convenient for children with short attention spans who might not want to sit through all 125 pages. This is definitely a book that I will be sharing with the special little ones in my life!

With three children (ages 2, 3 and 8, I always take the opportunity to review children's books when I am given it by the publishers. The latest is "Heaven: What's it Like? How do We get There?"This is the description of the book as it is written on Amazon:“Heaven is exciting! Heaven is big! Heaven is safe! Heaven is forever!” Heaven: What’s It Like? How Do We Get There? is the first in a brand new children’s series titled First Steps. This series explains the foundations of the Christian faith in sensitive and simple child-friendly terms. In this first book kids will understand, through 60 rhyming stories and colorful illustrations, what heaven is all about. Children will be inspired and uplifted by the hope and promise of Heaven and their heavenly Father. This is a comforting book for children who have lost grandparents or other loved ones. In addition to learning about heaven, children will be inspired to live their earthly lives in a way that is glorifying and honoring to God.My two little ones (ages 2 and 3) love to be read to at night before they go to bed. I would say that my 3 year old, Lucas, listens to the stories but my 2 year old, Ella, looks more at the pictures. Ella really liked the pictures. They are vibrant and exciting and immediately caught her eye. Lucas enjoyed the rhyming layout of each page.As a parent I loved the content of the book. The first section is entitled "What is Heaven Like?" and tells that heaven is perfect, beautiful, with no sadness, etc. The second section is called "How Do We Get There?" and tells about sin, why we need a Savior, and that Jesus died for us and that we need Him to go to heaven. The last section is called "How Do We Live Like Jesus Until Then?" which tells children how to behave while they are here on earth.I would recommend this book to parents of all small children. My only recommendation to the author would be to spend more pages on how a child can get to heaven. The author deals with it but I think children need to have that spelled out on more than one page. Overall, the book would make a wonderful gift to any small child or new parent.Disclaimer: I received this book for free from the Tyndale House Publishing Company in exchange for an honest review.

I really loved the previous book I had read by Stephen called Bedtime Prayers that End with a Hug! so I was looking forward to this one! I have to say it didn't disappoint! If anything I enjoyed this one more!We have been doing morning devotionals with our soon to be 2 year old and he loves the pictures! They are simplistic, but have very bright colors and fun drawings (the people are always smiling)! Plus with the poems being relatively short it held my son's attention to read it and then pray! The overall premise of the book is amazing! Their is always a Bible verse that is tied into each poem so that you know where the poem was inspired from! He talks about how Heaven is forever, we'll praise Jesus, and is never dark (of course there is so much more, but I wanted to mention a few)! I really feel that my son learned about Heaven and how we get there (even though I know he didn't understand everything)! However my favorite part is the last section "How Do We Live Like Jesus until Then?" where Stephen presents ways we can live like Jesus did such as serving others, praying for others, and being peacemakers to name a few! The really cool thing about this though is how at the end of the poem it asks "How can we live like Jesus?" with the answer in small letters (despite that my son was to young to answer)! I feel this gives the opportunity for the child to make the connection personally of how we can do it everyday!I am eagerly looking forward to more in this series First Steps as I fill this book Heaven really lives up to the title of those first steps in witnessing to our children! I highly recommend this novel to parents who are wanting to introduce Biblical teachings to their young children in a way they understand and is fun!I give Heaven: What’s It Like? How Do We Get There? a 5 out of 5 stars!*(I received this book for free from Tyndale Blog Network in exchange for an honest review!
