This stand is relatively solid, the metal tubing is thick enough gauge that it doesn't bend, it's very similar to a floor lamp assembly. There are some quirkiness to it that led me to believe the designer never owned real gears other than toy airsoft. The stand can accommodate a plate carrier sized vests without problems, but the metal arm is simply not wide enough to hang a real vest, unless you wrap the vest around the center post to prevent it from sliding off. The hook is also positioned way too high for regular 16" barrels with collapsible/adjustable stock, only a full stock and 20" or longer barrel would fit. The photos show it hanging by the sling is just further proof this product is meant for toys and replicas. That said, even with the shortcomings, this is still 10 times better than hanging vests on a coat hanger in a closet, and with some fiddling and modding, this is a top notch display stand.

This heavy duty armor stand is very durable and sturdy. It is a bit heavy but that's it's purpose. It holds all my heavy body armor and more. I would buy another but I also do recommend this.

I am using this to display some costume armor. It is made of 3/4 pipe thread. You can arrange the pipes to what ever configuration you need. Pipes have a nice black satin finish and looks well done. I changed the configuration to a more even looking stand, check out my pics.Thank you for taking the time to read my review and photos of this product. I hope it has been helpful in providing you with more information.

So my carrier has front and back lvl3 steel plates so its heavy. just south of 20lbs. When I hang my carrier on it. Its got a little wobble to it. Enough that if the dogs go hauling through the room and bump it, it could fall over. Also right out of the box one of the couplers was either installed cross-threaded or its just simply bent. It does not stand up straight its got some lean. Probably not helping that stability either. Now, at $56 it should kind be a little bit more quality controlled. Also at $56 the black pipe at a hardware store starts looking tempting. This is not actual black pipe but just pipe made to appear as such. The material is magnetic so its not aluminum but it does seem to be pot metal as its pretty easy to over torque and strip out the threads. Now as you can tell from the photo, it is doing its job. Its got the carrier on one side and the belt opposite. So for that it gets a solid 5 but the price paired with the out of the box issues drop it down two stars.

I needed a stand for my old flak jacket and flight helmet and this was it. Its very heavy duty and did not bend when hanging the jacket. The base is solid metal and the stand is threaded pipe. I am very happy with this stand and highly recommend it to any veteran who needs a place to display their gear!

I got this because I wanted to see how it compared to my wooden gear tree I built 15 years ago while I was a young SSgt. It arrived quickly and I was able to find space for all of my tactical gear and 'airsoft' weapons. I was a little worried that the base plate wasn't heavy enough to stabilize the gear tree when removing a plate carrier plus plates etc but that proved to be a non-issue. If you're worried about it you can always add an ammo can full of loaded mags at the bottom. You may ask "Why would I get this when I could buy 3/4" cast iron pipe from the store?" - the big reason is the base plate and everything included all in one kit. Quick assembly, no gripes, may fill the pipes with concrete for added weight down the road. Would recommend.
