Welcome to the "widow-maker". One of the car repair jobs I absolutely hate is replacing struts and pivot caps on coil-overs. When I did my BMW years back I picked up a set of spring compressors from the bargain tool store. Very little scares me more than compressing the spring and worrying what will happen if one of the compressors breaks. I used the successfully, but always feared using them again.Just recently the left rear shock on my wife's Land Rover puked oil all over the floor and I knew the day was coming to swap them out. I literally bought the new ones and they sat on the shelf in my garage for months while I worked up the courage to use the old ones, but once I saw these, I picked them up immediately. These are so much beefier than my old ones and the safety clips make more sense. I used this set, and while I refused to let my guard down, the whole job went smoothly. I didn't take any pictures of the process since I didn't need a distraction, but the cross bar of this set is so much better than my other set. The old set seems so sketch in comparison. It ended up taking me a couple hours to attach these and carefully ratchet them down.Overall, I am very happy with these and the way they together. My old set acted independently and I always feared they would slip to the side. I'm not sure if they are truly sturdier, but they definitely give you the feel that they are. Worth the money if you are willing to take the risk and do coil-overs yourself.
