SO MANY USES – Un-threaded spacers are mechanical devices used to separate 2 component parts in an assembly. Round cylinders (or cylindrical) are the most common shape, used in minimum clearance space requirements, but hexagonal and octagonal versions are also available. Nylon, aluminum, stainless steel, and brass are the most common materials each with their own non-magnetic, corrosion resistance, insulating, severe temperature, and conductive properties. Nylon is a good insulator and has a smooth surface that will not fray the insulation of wires that rub against it. Common outer diameters: 1/2”, 1/8”, 1/4”, 3/8”, 5/8”, 3/4”, 7/8”. Common Compatible Screw Clearance Sizes: 1/4”, #6, #8, #10, #12, #14. A standoff is a threaded separator. In contrast, some spacers may look similar to standoffs but are unthreaded pieces of tubing which let the entire bolt pass through.

I used these to attach pegboard to a wall. The space is perfect and the spacers did not crack or split as the screw was snugged.

They are spacers, they helped me space out!Plastic material, not hard but not soft, was able to cut in half to make two, used a hack saw because material was a little hard for utility knife razor blade.
