This is made out of decent metal at least because it's definitely heavy. The welds and everything else on it look like good quality work

This hook is a massive hunk of iron. This will pull about whatever you have or have gotten stuck in the mud. This is the one, get this one. I did.

Overall I'm not super impressed with this tow hook. It looks decent, but it's a lot lighter weight that I expected it to be. The hook itself seems to be solid steel (I assume), but given it's size and weight, I'm not sure that I 100% trust it to hold up to heavy usage. I was hoping for something a bit more robust and confidence inspiring. Odds are that'll it'll be fine for most purposes, but if you're looking for a big, beefy, heavy recovery hook...I think that there are likely better options out there.

We got a new SUV and needed to equip it for emergencies. It came with an eye bolt for front towing, but nothing specifically for the rear in spite of having a factory installed hitch. This is exactly what we need. It's one of those things "for safety's sake" that you hope you never need. But between seeing many vehicles off the road nose-first in ditches on the way to the ski slopes and getting stuck on muddy forest roads a few timer over the years we know the value of being prepared. Also useful for hooking up a rope or chain to pull up bushes or whatever in the yard, which I've more awkwardly using the tow ball hitch on a previous vehicle. There's no indication either on Amazon or the product of country of origin, but this appears very solid with sturdy welds. Also reasonably priced.

Good, solid, heavy-duty tow hook. When you need to use a chain, the ball just won't do. There is not much to say other than this; it should be in your truck for those "just in case" times—cheap insurance.

When pulling others out or getting your own rig pulled, a proper anchor point is going to save you from extensive damage. Using an already installed hitch is one of the best choices and this hook makes it happen. The iron receiver hitch very well built and coated to extend it's useful life out for years. A closed loop is often preferred but an open hook like this is still a great solution when you are having a bad day.When used properly and safely, this hook will pay for it's self after just one use. I recommend purchasing and keeping one with every vehicle that has a 2x2 receiver, eventually you will need it.
