This is sturdily built and sounds fantastic.Having used AKG D112, Audix D6 (also good) and other various mics, this is now the mic-of-choice, either alone or double mic-ed with an internal boundary condenser.In particular the Heil with an internal mic gives a good combination of beater-head definition and low end air for blending.My itself, with proper placement the mic does a very nice job as a standalone mic (ported head recommended)

Really like my Heil HDK 8 Drum Mics.This is the best kick sound I’ve ever gotten. Huge sound from PR 48 large diaphragm.For being dynamic mics, all the Heil drum mics give you really get a great sound that I would never have expected.They came highly recommended and I haven’t been disappointed. My drum recordings are coming out great here in my studio.

This is the best kick mic hands down. I’ve done A/B test against other popular mics and the Heil mic rocks. You have to hear it for yourself to believe it.

This kick is a BLASTER! Huge sound with great "umph" while still producing amazing tone! I use this for both live drums and recording and could not be happier for both settings! Sounds awesome, everything is conveniently located, and it looks great! Highly reccomend!

We use this kick drum mic with multiple kick drums and different sound systems. Always sounds amazing. Built solid, and we get tons of compliments on the look of this. Most photos look black and orange, but it's actually more red and it's brightly colored. We'd highly recommend it to anyone. Great price, too. Bob Heil knows what's up.
