The recipient seemed happy with her gift and used it to design her back patio floor.

This was so hard to use. I even bought the adhesive spray to get it to stay put and it was terrible. I was never able to get this to work for me. You really need a lot of patience, time and practice to use this. For me it was a complete waste of money.

The stencil itself is very well made. Thick and held up great. They even give you a small version and fun add ons as freebies. The non-5 star review is the design of the stencil itself. You have to lay it on itself with wet paint and then transfer down the wall. Unless you are extremely careful, it is difficult to get it perfect. So it easily smears and smudges. If I do this particular one again, I will use the small version at the crown of my wall, then the big version, then finish off with the small. Or it may be easier to do a section, let the paint dry some, then remove and go to the next section. This would take forever, but may be easier. They recommend doing the big stencil and then fill in with the small.. but the small only has 2 full "bricks" so its very incomplete. It took me 12 hours to do the wall in the photograph and I worked straight through with only very short breaks. This is not my first time stenciling. I've done it all over my home and this one by far was the most difficult and time consuming.

Once you figure out how to set up a pattern for the area you are painting, you can go like gang busters. I do recommend the small stiff rubber roller.
