Seems to read effectively; though there is a learning curve, which is fine. This is a great gadget to have in the event one is curious to test radiation from their electronics (like me) or in the event you ever entered an area with suspected high levels of radiation.Using this tool has given me peace of mind, knowing that the radiation from my electronic decices is pretty nominal. Radiation is radiation though. Also be careful not to touch "contaminated" items with the sensitive area. You're supposed to keep the reader atleast a couple cm away from the object; as close as you can get without touching it. Touching it could cause readings to spike. This doesn't mean there's something wrong with the reader. Just means... don't touch the objects with the reader. The farther you move the reader away from the object, the smaller the reading you'll get. For highest accuracy, the aforementioned will aid in this. It's also quite portable. I like this tool and never thought I'd ever have the need for one. Grateful to have it!

Here's a TLDR in case the fine print in the instructions is not clear:1) "The sensor is sensitive to vibration. Avoid severe vibration which may cause false alarm." Can confirm this is accurate.2) "Boot up: Long press the II for 3 seconds to start the device" and "Shut down: Long press the II for 3 seconds to shut down."3) The instructions also provide tables for dose limits in both industrial and personal applications to help provide scale.4) The Parameters section gives some device specifications. Range of measurement 0.05uSv-50mSv.h, and accuracy -17% to +25% (Csy). It is clear that this is not a scientific instrument but rather a tool to provide indication. For testing, try a banana. They naturally contain potassium-40 which is an unstable low dose ionizing source. It's not accurate, but can sometimes be used to watch the meter move. Known as the "banana equivalent dose" (BED), you could see 0.1uSv.This meter is everything it claims to be. It has a color screen with a range bar. If it detects high doses, it starts alarming. In my opinion, the menus are intuitive and easy to figure out. There are keys to move between menu items, and a II key to select.I like that it is small and lightweight. It does not appear to be waterproof, despite the rubber USB-C plug cover. It might be water resistant. As stated in the description, the small cord is for hanging. It is definitely too small for much else. The cord can be replaced with a bigger loop if needed. The stated run time is approximately 8 days between charges. This makes it suitable for carrying while hiking/camping.I think this is a great device to have, especially for exploring areas known for having naturally occurring radioactive material.

I am not a scientist or a physicist so I can only tell you the basics. I thought this would be nice to have on hand just in case I ever needed it. I can not say if it works or not since I do not have any radiation material here to test it. It does seem to be scanning and looking for radiation. It is pretty small but the screen is easy to read. It has a pretty nice layout. Everything you need to see is right on the main screen. It does have a menu you can navigate to change various settings. Screen brightness, sounds, alarms, schedules, logs, and many other things are in a well laid out menu. It has a little weight to it so it does appear to have a lot of electronics inside of it. Over all it seems like a very nice device. My only cons is the battery is built in. Once the battery goes bad, the entire unit is no good. That makes it disposable. The worse thing and only real flaw I have found in it is, if you bump it real hard, lay it down hard, or jar it, it jumps way up like it has detected something. Numbers go way up and alarms go off. Basically a false positive. I really do not think it should be doing that. Other than that though, all else about it is great.

The HFS-20PRO radiation detector emerges as a portable and digital solution for the real-time detection of X-rays and gamma radiation, designed for a range of applications from home use to laboratories.Despite its compact and lightweight design, this dosimeter proves to be a functional and efficient tool for radiation monitoring. One of the standout features of the HFS-20PRO is its rapid sampling and detection. This allows for constantly updated readings, providing the user with crucial information about the radiation levels present in their surroundings. The device is capable of measuring various important units, including CPM (counts per minute), µR/h (micro-Roentgens per hour), Total Dose, Dose Rate, and µSv/h (microsieverts per hour), offering a comprehensive view of the radiological situation. The bright color display makes reading the data easy, even in varying lighting conditions. Its intuitive interface allows for simple navigation through the different measurements and settings.Regarding power, the long-lasting rechargeable battery is a significant advantage. This feature provides great autonomy, which is especially useful for prolonged measurements or in locations where access to a power source may be limited. The ability to recharge the device adds a plus of convenience and sustainability. While its small size might initially raise concerns, in practice, the HFS-20PRO effectively fulfills its function of detecting X-rays and gamma radiation. Its compact and lightweight design makes it a highly portable device, easy to transport and handle in different situations.
