Seller was great. No issues there. But HikVision I have nothing good to say about. I've been running this DVR for a year now and finally coming back to review my year experience. Spent extra $$ on Hikvision expecting a better system but ended up with a low end outdated DVR that has few modern features, proprietary encoded recordings, proprietary connectivity. It's something I would have expected to get back in 1989. It is a huge battle to get this system to cooperate with other brand cameras. Doesn't support ONVIF well at all. Major effort to just get it to work. The web console is outdated junk. Requires a browser plug in and still doesn't work well in a browser. Controls are completely different between the DVR console itself and the web console. The Hikvision software to manage the DVR is even worse. Limited functionality. Doesn't work with other cameras worth a crap. Again, completely different controls. Menus are different between all 3 systems. No consistency. Not intuitive at all. They discontinued this model and also discontinued the firmware updates which speaks to their business model in supporting past products.I'm downloading 3rd party software to tweak settings and constantly wrestling with this system. The camera's themselves are decent and equally comparable to other brands. Nothing special about them that I can discern. But the DVR and the HikVision proprietary encoding make this brand a STAY AWAY. I could have gotten a much better system for far less or gone with a NEST or RING subscription and still be saving money.Major buyers remorse after a year of trying to make this product work for me.

Bought an overpriced SWANN security system from costco, NVR power supply died after 6 months and their customer service is abysmal. Couldn't get a replacement power supply from them and ended up having to buy a completely new NVR or have to strip the now 8 camera installed security system (I am NOT going back into the attic). This NVR is plug and play compatible with the Power over ethernet cameras I have and all I had to do was swap units and install the software.

This NVR has been a tireless workhorse for 2 years and easily handles 8 x 6mp camera streams.Make sure to enable H264+ which gives you high compression with full quality. Not a single problem, accepts Hikvision firmware updates and was flashed to the most current firmware out of the box.My only issue, I should have bought the 16 channel version. if you plan on installing anywhere near 8 cameras in the next few years, just buy the 16 channel model. Once you have 8, you'll want more. Just do it!! You can't upgrade this unit to 16 channels later, it's impossible.Works perfectly with my DoorBird camera too and every other camera I've tried.

Very easy setup! Most definitely the most plug and play product I’ve ever setup. I purchased this unit along with 3 hikvision cameras. The software and app were very easy to configure as well as each camera.

Very pleased with the ease with which it was to configure the box and get cameras connected. My only complaint is that the web interface does not use open standards; as a result the proprietary video plugin took a bit of finagling to get the stream to appear on my Mac. I would say it not Mac friendly, more like Mac acquaintances.

I regret getting this because the app setup is very difficult. It’s so not user-friendly that it’s pretty much rendered my cam system useless. I use my cams for live monitoring only, but I bought this so that I’d be able to playback recorded video footage. Figuring out how to setup and access the recordings has been a severe P.I.T.A. My husband his friend so much time setting it up that I don’t have the heart to tell him I want to get rid of it. I would NOT recommend if you need an intuitive playback mechanism.

Delivered as expected. In Hikvision packaging with English language firmware. Power cord was European, but it came with an adapter for the US. The power cord will be swapped with a standard desktop PC cord. Updated BIOS from the Hikvision NVR that I already have. I'm not sure if I can get support from Hikvision. At this price it's most likely grey market.

Got my real US version through NetView. Was initially easy to set up. Trying to get all the settings in line to have remote access to the NVR and each individual camera to change settings remotely got tricky and took some time, wouldn't recommend unless you are computer savvy and i mean more than just plugging in things and pushing the power button; you have to have a little knowledge of networking to change the right settings, but once i got it on the network i could hide it in a closet and use the web interface to access from my computers, it dint need its own monitor ( Youtube and ipcamtalk helped me through). From there setting the recording schedules and playback, motion alarms, and video quality and settings was on the easy side. The amount of settings screens and full control you have over your security setup is amazing with this thing. All and all great product and way better than buying a franchise kit, worth the extra $$.

The unit itself is awesome! Works great and setup is quick and easy with hikvision cameras. Other onvif cameras will require manual setup...I've installed lots of these units but beware this vendor has non supported serial numbers. I called last week on one of these units just purchased from this seller and hikvision refused to provide me ANY support on the delivered unit.So just understand if you buy this , you won't be able to get support

The Hikvision DVR is compatible with ONVIF (3rd Party) cameras. The software is polished. The documentation was comprehensive. In addition, the unit displays the POE power consumption, which is useful. The only problems I had was the Motion Detection, which would not function reliably, and the password security function, which is somewhat paranoid. Otherwise, a great product.

Pretty happy with my purchase so far. The NVR is fast and responsive and the web interface is pretty functional. If you've used the web interface on individual Hikvision cams, then you'll be right at home using this NVR. It is noticeably snappier though which is probably due to faster hardware. The plug and play capability of this NVR is great. Plug a Hikvision camera into any of the 8 POE ports and the NVR will instantly recognize it and start using it. There was nothing I needed to do other than enable a particular recording schedule for each camera on the NVR (Motion, Continuous, Line Crossing, ect). One interesting thing when I first plugged in my hard drives and fired up the NVR is that it's internal alarm beeper kept going off. This is simply the NVR alarm for a HDD error and it goes away as soon as you format the hard drives within the NVR's web interface. Alternatively, you can just turn the alarm off as well. If you've used Hikvision Cube cameras, you'll notice this same thing when you insert microSD card and it hasn't yet been formatted.
