I actually use this not as a traditional welding blanket, but as an insulator for a direct fired mash tun for home brewing. So far it has done it's job well. It greatly aids in maintaining my mash temperatures in a keggle, while standing up to the abuse from the banjo burner under the MLT. I realize this isn't the typical use for this product, but if you are looking for an inexpensive insulator for a MLT, this has worked well for me, so far.

This blanket was so full of clippings that when I unfolded it the Fiberglass shreds went all over me. Obviously it had not been cleared of all the clippings before being packaged. I just wadded it up and put it in the trash.Karen Marker

Right up front, I'm not a welder. Like some other reviewers, I bought this as an economical way to insulate my pellet smoker (Traeger) on colder days. Folded into 4ths, it is the perfect size to completely cover the top of the smoker and help insulate. As others have said, every time you touch this blanket, it drops fiberglass strands. Just keep a broom and dustpan close by!

I bought this as a protective shield for my deck railing when I use the grill-works great. Even with the grill only a foot away from the plastic railing there is no damage at all. Now I just have to see how it withstands the elements-sun, rain, etc.

Bought several of these to protect items in the garage from slag and grinding sparks. A garage fire is not what I need, especially since these types of fires smolder for hours till they flame. So I covered some items and weld away. Took a look at the blanket after & indeed they were marked up, not burnt thru. So they work. Heavy fiberglass blanket, well made and resist burning to very high temps. Wear gloves when handling them their fiberglass.

This is an awesome blanket, and is pretty much the only one sold on Amazon. This is a huge insurance policy for welding. It stops the slag from hitting the finished flooring, and it HELPS stop slag from getting on combustible items on the jobsite. As with any blanket like this, it is NOTORIOUSLY ITCHY. I don't have much problem as I make sure I don't 'fluff' it around, and try to keep from touching it. If you're going to be kneeling on it, I suggest you put a couple pieces of cardboard under your knees (non-flammable cardboard, of course) to keep you from embedding the fiberglass into your knees and your pants. Make sure the area is swept clean because there is no washing the blanket, and will trap dirt and sawdust permanently.I bought this at a great price of $30 because my entire shop is a bunch of whinebags. They call themselves welders, but are too busy spending their money on a house they can't afford, and keep borrowing the shop guy's blanket... and he gets pissed when the don't return it for days. So I have my own, and yes,.... NOBODY borrows my stuff. Great blanket and a durable bag with steel eyelets to hang with. The blanket also has steel eyelets all the way around for hanging/shielding. It can last 10 years if you don't rub holes in it like a dummy. Also, works great to wipe away sweat--I don't recommend it, tho. This was a 2-beer review.

I purchased this blanket to use as an insulation blanket on my Treager BBQ. I works perfectly and would probably make a great welding blanket. It is well made and a good value as I always research reviews, price and shipping cost. I deal with Amazon a lot and have always been happy - especially with their shipping policies. Their return policies work well also.Gary
