I finished my quilt and threw it in the wash. The batting didn’t smell pleasant when wet and the smell persisted a little as it dried. I have made many quilts and used variety of batting. This one stretches too much when assembling and the wash smell surprised me, not in a good way.

This is a good batting for making quotes. I use only wall now because I find it much more lightweight but has good heat retention properties. Hobbs is a reliable brand.

I had only quilted with cotton batting before. Finding this was a revelation. I am nearly done with the last bit in my stash and will be buying more. It is so light and airy, but also warm. Once I use up the rest of my cotton batting, I don't think I will buy cotton batting again. Wool all the way!

The product is being used as batting for a handmade quilt. Still in the works.

I used the wool batting for quilts gifted to family members and for myself. All family members have noted comfortable sleeping temperature year round. Not waking up sweaty during warmer temperatures or waking up cold in colder house temperatures during the winter. I feel I am sleeping better, waking less during the night; it may be because of better temperature regulation. This will be my go to batting.I am giving four stars instead of 5 because the batting doesn’t have the loft that some other battings do so the quilting stitch patterns aren’t as evident.I would highly recommend the batting for a quilt that will be used, but may not be the best choice for a show quilt where visual quilting is more important than functional use.

I’m quilting it by machine and the needle glides through smoothly. There is no “bearding” - no fibers poking through the fabric to show on the top. Light fluffy loft.

I’m a longarm quilter, and Hobbs Tuscany 100% wool is is my go-to batting. It has the perfect amount of loft to show off longarm stitching, but stays soft and pliable. It makes a very nice quilt. It costs a bit more than polyester, and requires a bit more thought when washing, but it’s worth it for me. When washing might be an issue, I go with Hobbs Tuscany polyester - it has a similar loft and softness.
