To be clear, this tool crimps a small gauge wire ring, most commonly used for upholstery, or securing poultry wire. It does not crimp actual hog rings/snout rings. I'm using this tool to make hardware cloth gopher baskets.These are an exact copy of the DeWalt hog ring pliers, but unlike the name brand, these show up with zero instructions on how to load the rings. It's easy to load the rings once you know how, but not particularly intuitive. I've attached instructions.If you like this design, there are at least a dozen versions of this tool, many at better prices. This tool does come with 2500 'rings' which is more than some other offerings. I even found the DeWalt branded tool for less than this one. Further, there's another design of this tool that's even cheaper, so shop around before you settle on this purchase.

The tool works Flawlessly. But the rings are Tiny.If you were joining "hardware cloth" or "chicken wire" it would be perfect.But, if you want to attach something to say a "chain link fence" this is probably too small of a ring.I used to do upholstery work and recovering old pickup truck bench seats and it would probably be too small for that work too. The rings form a nearly perfect circle, not the Oval like real hog rings bend into.These rings are smaller than "real" Hog/Pig/Shoat rings from the farmers supply.They are like a little smaller than 1/4 inch.The tool is really easy to use but loading the staples is a pain, because there is NO INSTRUCTIONS and I couldn't figure out how to get the sliding springy thing OPEN!)I would totally recommend it as long as you know what you are getting.I Hope My Review And Pictures Were Helpful To You !!

I got this hog ring kit because I sometimes find myself wishing I had one to join two pieces of wire, fencing, or other DIY/crafty things. My first hog ringer spoiled me. It was one of those pneumatic M ring guns for auto upholstery. It cost hundreds of dollars and worked every time.This hog ringer is $25 and works every time, too, but it's lighter duty. What does lighter duty mean? This is for occasional, or even frequent use, but not constant/everyday. The rings are also a little lighter weight/easier to bend than my old upholstery gun.The pliers work to crimp the rings every time they load, but the return spring is a little light and requires a tiny bit of back pressure to load the next ring. I'm giving four stars for this reason as I'm not sure it will resolve after a break in period. Still, it's simple enough to use and it is a good tool to keep in the box for specialty fastening needs.There are no instructions in the box, but there is an instruction pic on the listing. Just use your thumb and forefinger to squeeze the tail and the side tab together by first pressing the tail with your thumb and then pulling the slide out with your forefinger. Release the tail/thumb once it's all the way forward, then release the forefinger.

Works well but zero instructions for loading or use. Had to find a youtube of another manuf.'s similar item. Update, I've been using it to join two layers of garden fencing together, one is a hardware cloth mesh to keep small critters out, above that is hung a larger mesh garden-type fence. The size of the wires is not that large so this plier and ring set works pretty well for my purpose. It would not work well if I was trying to join heavier hog panels and would not work at all for chain link fencing. So despite no instructions I am giving this a "4 of 5".

I bought this for my husband and he and I use it for quite a bit of things around our garden, the garage, our pet cages and even the fence! It has been SUPER useful and would buy again!

I bought in order to connect some 14ga welded wire. The staples are fine and would hold, BUT the stapler only pinches the rings down to the size of a cattle panel... And the rings aren't sturdy enough to use on a cattle panel. Epic fail. Had to resort to bailing wire and pliers
