I have been tiling for years and have tried a number of the leveling systems. If you've got a descent amount of experience with tiling and apply a consistent amount of thinset under tiles, then any of these leveling systems work pretty well. I like this style on walls in particular. I like them because they make my job easier. If you have a tile that needs a little extra tugging, you can just add these in at any time. Things are never geometrically perfect when setting tile. Sometimes you end up with a bigger gap between two tiles than looks appropriate. When that happens, you simply loosen a few of these, shift tiles around a little and tighten back up. If you're a little less experienced and get mud seeping up through the gaps, you can clean that out before the thinset dries with this style of clip. Just remove and clean up your mess within 6 hours.I've never had one of these get stuck permanently in a tile job, but if that happens, that would admittedly be a time-consuming pain to remove. So don't leave them in more than 6 hours ideally. When doing wall work, I don't think it's a great idea to use the one-time leveling systems because you have to hammer on them to break them out the “next day”. The problem is it takes cement days, if not weeks, to reach max strength. If you go and hammer on the traditional style leveler the “next day”, I'm convinced you will fracture some of the microscopic thinset bonds that are still forming as the cement hydration process progresses. Obviously, most people don't care about that, and we don't see too many tiles falling off the walls, but it doesn't make sense to hammer on curing cement if you don't have to. With these you don't have to.I have used a couple different versions of this basic leveler design. These ones do not have replaceable pins. I prefer this design over the similar ones with replaceable pins. The pins in the later are wobbly, they don't screw down as smoothly, and the plastic surface of the leveler that sits on the tiles is not smooth like these. Anything that is not smooth will quickly cake up with thinset. This is a better design. As for negatives. All the twist type leveler systems will put a torque on the tile surface as you try to tighten them down. That can up open up bigger gaps if you're not paying attention. One way around that problem is put of piece of 2” blue tape between two tiles before tightening them done. That pretty much fixes the rotation problem. Some kinda lube might work well too. Another issue with this design is if your tiles are not the same thickness. If that's the case, you can end up tightening down on the thicker tile without pulling up on the thinner one! That's an issue with all of these systems, but it's worse with this style since they are so rigid. The one-use level systems have flexible plastic bottom pieces that will rotate up a bit in this scenario and better deal with tiles of slightly different thicknesses. If you have an issue with these, you can often move the leveler along the gap and try again. These are easy to remove from a wall, but it's not as easy to crawl out onto a 'wet' floor to remove them.If you're a beginner these are a lot easier to deal with the problems (you will have) and end up with a pretty good finish in the end. If you're a pro, and consistent with mud, then just about anything will work. No issues with this seller. Product arrived as described.
